Madison, Wisconsin is a city in mourning today
I took a good long walk this morning (I'm not going to work because I took off thinking I would be celebrating last night)and where I saw happy people walking around yesterday many wearing their Kerry stickers or pins--today I see depressed people, zombies--everywhere--and I'm not kidding. Madison gave Kerry a 100,000 person turnout at the rally last week and we were energized. Dane County voted 2-1 for Kerry and the city of Madison over 70%. Kerry eeked out a narrow win here and we in Madison provided more than the winning margin.

The atmosphere on campus is especially down. I see lots of kids who proudly voted yesterday and I personally saw the long lines. People are blaming the youth for not turning out again, but of those who did many voted for the first time for Kerry.

I think people just can't believe the possibility of four more years of Bush.

1. Mourning here too
Thanks for everything you and the wonderful people of Madison did.

We put a dent in Dubya here in Central Wisconsin and in some ways it's a small victory.

2. As is New York
Yesterday, every commuter had a smile on their face - today everyone looks downcast. What can we do now but fight?

3. I know what you mean
I think half of our drivers called in sick today (at my day job).

The fact that I live in Madison is the only reason I'm still in this country. I feel like I'm living in West Berlin now, though. All that's missing is the wall around the city.
