It's about religion, stupd.

This whole election was about Religion.

When the muslims do it, they are extremists and fanatics.

When we do it, it is about moral values.

When muslims kill, they are terrorists.

When we kill, it is about collateral damage.

This is a sad day, just sad.

But let's not give up. Let's learn our lessons, let's improve out message and let's carry on this fight to another day. The pendulum will swing back, it always does. There's a lot to look forward to.

Take heart in history. Who would have predicted in 1996 that Clinton would have been impeached before his term was half over? This is not the end, it is a beginning.

8. We have one, actually. But we believe in separation of church and state
as a fundamental value (pardon the use of this phrase).

13. Yeah see that's the problem
the Christian left believes in the establishment clause. Strongly. We do NOT want mixing of religion and government! So we stay out of it. So the Christian Right takes over because they have no such qualms about mixing the two, in fact, want them mixed.

3. That's part of moral values
Part of the whole religion thing.

But the real scandal is that (I heard on AAR) over 20 percent of gays voted for Bush.

The dems impale themselves on the gay marriage issue and 20 percent have the affrontery to vote against Kerry? What does that tell us?

7. Kerry's stand wasn't that much different from Bush's...
I think you're nuts to suggest that this one issue made any difference.

20. don't forget anti science....that's been a long tradition in
Christianity. I'm a former believer...the christian sect is myth, I"m sad to say. I would never harm or hamper a person's right to worship what or whomever they like. Just get it the hell out of politics/government.

This whole MASS voting thing WAS organized by every church, every religiously rw think tank/orgainzation. Don't kid yourself otherwise, people.

Ha, guess what. Early this morning an old "church" friend called hubby and left a CHIPPER, UPBEAT, HAPPY message on his answering machine. I wanted to pick it up and tell him to fuck off but that isn't my place...he's hubby's friend.

I'm outta here.

19. Unfortunately, we are gonna have to beat them at their own game!
Let's start wrapping everything up in the Bible and God. We have the more compelling argument if we do. For example, instead of a going against the war with the argument that Iraq had nothing to do with 911 and Al Qaeda, say instead that Democrats believe in Jesus' teaching of "love thy neighbor as yourself" or "thou shall not kill" or "turn the other cheek". When we want to fight for right for gays because it is the fair and right thing to do, instead remind people that Jesus' confidant (and maybe more) was a woman of the night, that Jesus embraced "sinners" not abandoned them! Jesus taught but he also consulted with his apostles. Jesus healed the sick so we should allow the sick to be healed by enabling people to access healthcare without fearing that they will bankrupt themselves. Access to cheaper medications would be something that Jesus would do also to help the sick. Jesus shared whatever he had to those less fortunate than himself. Etc. I don't like coupling religion with politics, but this seems to be the only way. Does anyone feel me?
