21st Century: China's?
The United States has lost so much prestige in the world in the last four years, and it's only going to accelerate in the next four. I really have to wonder if this is the beginning of the end of the world's only superpower. China is rising and fast. I'm sure it doesn't bother them at all to see us waste billions on useless wars while they build their economy stronger and stronger. I think we may see a huge shift in power in our lifetimes.

Don't believe it can happen? Neither did the USSR in the 60's.

2. I already asked my wife
I asked my wife earlier today to look into the price of a villa in the Shanghai area...

China has a lot of their own problems to overcome, but at least they are going in the right direction, generally.

3. Sort of
The whole censorship and human rights thing doesn't make me too excited about them, though. We think we are censored here ... but at least we can choose which websites we visit!

4. True, but China will eventually move away from that
They are heading in that direction now with bumps & starts. But, they are a patient people. Maybe it will not happen for 5 years or even 10 or more. But, they are headed in the right direction.

Can you say the same about America? If every voting machine in 2008 is a Diebold one, would you rather go through the sham of an election or be in a country where they may actually move towards real elections instead of away from them?
