Kos endorses Howard Dean for DNC Chair and Durbin for Senate Leader
Kos writes, "The McAuliffe reign has ended in disaster" calling Terry an "artful fundraiser" but he never developed a "clear message" and that the party is in worse shape than when he took over. He endorses Howard Dean for DNC Chairman (I wrote a thread calling for this as well this morning).

Kos also says that he thinks Dick Durbin of Illinois would be a good replacement for Daschle.

p.s. you may have to scroll down a bit.

1. I agree 100%!
We need new leadership. We need it immediately and spines are no longer optional.

Dean and Durbin? Oh yes. Yes indeed. :toast:

2. Let's get talk of Durbin moving
Dodd's about to announce if he'll run, there needs to be a big buzz for Durbin. Email the media rumors, email Durbin and tell him to run, let's get this done. I'm through fucking around. I'm sitting back for Dashcle-lite Harry Reid, we are fighting for our existance.

4. I was also thinking of Harkin, but I think Durbin will be good
and he is more than acceptable. I will e-mail Feingold and Kohl about possibly supporting Durbin and also about Dean as DNC Chair.

7. Making Howard "Civil Unions" Dean the face of the Democratic Party
would be an unmitigated disaster. I want a DNC chairman that Democrats all across the country, not just those in heavily blue states, would be happy to campaign with.

11. The Democratis in Harris County, Texas
were flocking out in droves to the Good Doctor's brief visit earlier this campaign season. Governor Dean energized MANY of us -- the well-heeled donors at the HCDP's gala dinner as well as the crowds at the rallies.

Yeah, he mentioned gay marriage - said, "leave it to the states." Also mentioned a few ways that the "gospel" of the RW does NOT resemble the gospel of Jesus -- as a Christian progressive I can say amen to that!

Howard Dean for DNC chair is the happiest thought I've had all day.

12. Red State Democrats in Texas appreciate Dean
Because he appreciates us. If you're only playing to the ever-shrinking number of "blue states" you're doomed to extinction.

9. works for me ...
dean knows how to build a grassroots organization ... and he's certainly a "media darling" ... that would be a great role for him ...

and Durbin as Senate Leader? that's another great idea ... Durbin has maturity, he's articulate and witty and he has class ...

Dean and Durbin ... works for me !!! sounds like a new kind of drink ...

I'll have a Dean and Durbin ... try doing that with McAuliffe and Daschle ... we never had a chance ...

14. Well, Harry Reid has the votes and Chris Dodd will not challenge him.
Dodd was on Blitzer's show tonight. It looks like a done deal for Reid.

We will see what kind of fight the Senate Democrats put up against the right wing agenda-- which make no mistake, is coming. Pay no attention to what George W. Bush said today. This is what Dick Cheney said today:

"Yet in the election of 2004, we did more than campaign on a record. President Bush ran forthrightly on a clear agenda for this nation's future and the nation responded by giving him a mandate."

16. I would love to have Dick Durbin too, but the Senate doesn't work that way
Nevertheless, we should all email and/or call our Senator and tell them we want Dick Durbin. Anybody know if he is interested in the job?

18. Dean will be great. He'll raise tons of $ from Pfizer, the NRA, & WalMart
just as he did as the excellent and very effective chair of the Democratic Governors' Association.
