How-to Guide for Democrats to win every election from now on:
Two words: Fight dirty.

Break out the brass knuckles, punch below the belt, poison the enemy's food (proverbially).

For too long, the Democrats have been the "nice-guy." Whether it's Dukakis not responding to damning smears or Gore refusing to sieze upon reports that * went AWOL, the Democrats have been too damn nice. Meanwhile, Nixon lies and steals, * STOLE AN ELECTION, and Repugs consistently allow 527's to do their VERY dirty work.

Time to sneak a gun into this knife-fight. I'm ready if you are. Some would say it's better to be right and lose than to be wrong and win. B.S. There's no point in being right if you're DEAD. Fuck the good-guy routine, it's time to hit back.

1. Kick (I'll only do it once if nobody cares)
Anyone agree? Probably not, but I think it's the practical thing to do.

2. that attitude is necessary
but there is more to be done as well

infrastructure, agenda, leadership, clarity of message, willingness to "fight dirty"

are all needed

3. I said it earlier today and I'll say it again
we need our version of Lee Atwater/Karl Rove. We need to get over the idea that we're better than that if we ever want to win again. They lie, they cheat, they steal. So should we. If they hit us with fire, we need to hit them with a firethrower. It's the only way and if this election didn't prove that, then I don't know what will. We can't depend upon the media to correct their lies, we know that they are corporate puppets who will do their masters' bidding. It's up to us to fight this and to fight it in a way that they will understand.

4. Stop kissing ass.
Just stop with the goddam pandering. Quit telling me what you think I want to hear. I want to know who you are, what you believe in, what you intend to do for this country, and what you expect from me in return.

Is that too much to ask?

5. Next election day:
Go around at 1AM in your neighborhood and look for republican signs. Then proceed to pop all their fucking tires on every car that is parked at that house.

No I'm not seroius, but I'm entertaining the though right now because I am so pissed off and depressed. I also wouldn't hold the action against anybody who did this.

6. you forgot something; framing
too long we let the repubs control the debate.

Like tax relief. Who doesn't want relief? who likes paying taxes?

Of course, the problem is, this is like relief from paying the gas bill or the mortgage. Sure, it more money. And less house or you freeze in winter. Worse, not all the money that isn't going to your bill actually comes back to you. if any.

it's not much a relief at all. So why do we still let them use that phrase? where' s our counter phrase?

7. How about just showing some balls?
Wouldn't that be nice? Standing up and saying "We're not going to take this $h1t?" Not backing down for the "good of the country"? Wouldn't that be nice for a change?

8. We can't just wait for elections anymore to excise the
cancers. We have enough criminal acts documented about the Bushistas to start all kinds of legal actions against them. Voting is no longer an option. They have beat the system, but we can't let them stay in power or we will no longer be a nation.

10. I'll have to admit,
that given what the anti-gay issues did to drive the right wing bigoted hating folks to the polls I wondered what would drive more of us to the polls.

A fleeting evil thought I had was to encourage some of these idiots to put amendments on the ballots in key states to define marriage as between one man and one woman of the same race. Outraged folks from our side would flock to the polls in record numbers - and elect whatever democrat was at the top of the ticket.

Of course, the down side is that the right wing bigoted hating folks would probably actually vote for it....

11.  I am sick of discussions like this.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH US. WE ARE THE MAJORITY. WE DID NOT LOSE. LET'S STOP TEARING OURSELVES APART.

It's bad enough that we had another election stolen, which is our own fault (as a party) for not taking the BBV stuff seriously enough. The repukes are laughing their asses off at us, no doubt, for being dumb enough to believe that they wouldn't steal this one when they stole the one 4 years ago.

12. Nonsense. The same people who ran 00, 02, & 04 should continue to be
entrusted with our party's electoral strategy and the implementation of that strategy.
