Bush needs a terrorist attack as a pretext for the draft
Think about that for a while.

Remember, he said he "has no plans" to reinstitute the draft.

But plans can change when need be.

After all, Bush said he wasn't into "nation building.'

But the "world changed after 9-11".

Be expecting a "change of plans" before the innaugaration.

How about January 11th?

1. I think that he went so far as to say,
"There will be no draft while I am president."

5. as if he's gonna worry about going against something that he said
As much as a pretext, which I agree with in general, BushCo needs an "alternative service plan" so that the children of privilege do not have to serve in potential combat roles. With the Nat'l Guard on the lines, that won't serve as a shelter anymore - and informal guarantees of non-combat assignments will not go far enough with the privileged base. I expect that rePube scammers have been cobbling and focus-grouping ideas for months.

3. I wonder about this too, because you know he is eager to start
another war, but we don't have the troops to do so. I am sure the little bastard will think of something.

4. My sister and I talked about this today.
We agreed he'll need another attack, or he'll think up some fancy new name for it so he can't be accused of lying about not having plans to reinstate the draft. Maybe we'll get our very own Repbulican Guard.

8. And WHY does he need a reason?
He's a lame duck. Repukes control Congress, so no impeachment.

Who's gonna stop him?

9. Much simpler:
We'll have an all "volunteer" army.

11. With the way that the Neocons
will structure things, we won't need a draft. If they cut out the college Pell Grants, Affirmative Action and drown many of the social services in the bathtub......young people won't have much of a choice, if they come from lower income families. They will join the army because they won't be anything else for them. It will be their best opportunity. In the meantime, the wealthy's children will got to college and go on to a better life....and everything will be oKeyDokey.

That's the real plan.

No draft necessary. Bush meant what he said.
