why is bolder, colorado only reporting 33% of their votes?
here:
http://www.co.boulder.co.us/clerk/elect/2004%20General/Frame.htm

they are listing 75 of 230 precincts completed.

According to http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/CO/P/00/county.000.html#08013">cnn
this is one of Kerry's best districts:

Democratic Kerry
65,864 70% 33% of precincts reporting

Republican Bush
27,039 29%

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but CNN has Kerry losing to Bush by 118756 votes.

Is that 33% precincts reporting weighted to the number of votes we can expect to return?

Are there really 184,000 votes left to be counted in Boulder???

2. Yes, and Kerry will win Colorado

if his current percentage lead in Boulder holds.

3. true, but we know nothing of the precincts that have reported
is boulder typically this pro-democratic?

The only real reason I'm surprised by this is because Boulder seems to be Kerry's strongest county...and the results haven't even all come in???

Not trying to get hopes up, falsely or anything, i just find this odd.

4. It is odd and Boulder is where the University of Colorado is
Tends to be liberal because it's a college town. Even if Kerry 'got' Colorado he would have to win Nevada and Iowa, which have him down with 100% of the votes reporting.

6. if 100% of precincts in Iowa are counted, then why hasn't it been called?
Waiting for absentee ballots? I'm confused.

Also, Bernalilo county in NM has me confused.

Here's the registered voters:
County Democrats Republicans Greens Other No Party Total
Bernalillo 162,309 46% 122,806 34% 4,045 7,174 60,202 17% 356,536
http://web.state.nm.us/avrs/COUNTY.HTM

And yet, here are the results:

Democratic Kerry
124,646 51% 99% of precincts reporting

Republican Bush
115,893 48%

Independent Nader
1,379 1%

Libertarian Badnarik
928 0%

Green Cobb
393 0%

Constitution Peroutka
250 0%
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/NM/P/00/county.000.html#35001

That seems like either extremely high turnout for Bush, or the "no party" voters breaking toward Bush bigtime.

9. In both states, absentee and provisional ballots remain to be counted

It is extremely unlikely, though not mathematically impossible, that Kerry wins any of those states (similar to OH and FL).

5. Somebody said something about paper ballots
which are more difficult to count. I think Boulder is the liberal stronghold of Colorado. So, there's some hope. It won't alter the national outcome, but it sure would be nice to pick up another red state.

8. I think that Boulder County only has ~176K total registered voters...
At least according to the website I found earlier today (search my recent posts, it's there somewhere...) I was going over the numbers earlier today - I think a lot of the outstanding precincts are much low(er) in population than the precincts that are already in. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Boulder County only has ~292K total residents. It would be nice if Kerry picked up a few more % points - hopefully CO will swing blue next time. -SM
