Bringing Democratic "moral values" on free DVDs to red state churches
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 08:14 AM by TheWebHead
Anyone think it would be a good idea to start investing in producing a series DVD documentaries to hand out free to churchgoers, especially in the south, highlighting Democrats "moral values" as they relate to the environment, healthcare, corporate regulation, science and disease prevention, preventing the shift of the tax burden from the rich to the poor, housing, etc.? I think the problem we're running into is that these churchgoers are being presented a slanted view of the left where they focus on abortion, abortion, abortion, gays, gays, gays every week by their pastors... We can at least try to balance this moral message out to point to multiple facets of morality and force them to think.

2. It would probably be a better idea for Democrats to go to the churches
Maybe if we spent time with the parishoners they would be able to see that Christians can be Democrats too.

5. I guess I'm more referring to something for Catholics
and non churchgoers as something with Evangelicals to do without having to do something counter to their own beliefs, where we can try to make a difference.

11. Catholic Democrats would do well to keep up a steady presence in RC church
no more of this non-attending lapsed stuff. Go, talk, befriend, influence. Telling people your values is made much stronger by going and letting them experience your values. If you want to win people over you have to mix with them.

6. Uh ... yeah they do!
They're replacing VCRs quickly. You can buy a DVD player for $39 bucks now, and a DVD recorder for $140.

Looks like another way we are probably "out of touch" with this segment and how to communicate with them.

Why are we looking for indirect ways to contact them? Would you be willing to pop a Republicans for Civil Rights DVD in your player to just see what it would be like? Me neither.

12. You have to go and show them that liberals are human beings
It wouldn't hurt for us to realize that they are human beings too.

15. AOL cds
Well most AOL subscribers tend to be from the south and come from Christian leanings so that might not be such a negative thing.

9. a DVD player only costs about $100
it's a lot more expensive to mass produce VHS I believe. I think we've seen how the documentaries work with our own base (f 9.11/outfoxed) and trying to create something appealing to the 'Jesusland' states could create a dialogue for these people who are being brainwashed by their church leaders and right wing talk radio.
