Go to google.com and search for "darwin fish"

I bought the bumper sticker from http://www.cafepress.com

1. Love the Bumper sticker
do you have a source?

Hate the Darwin fish. The Darwin fish implies a logic that assumes that one cannot believe in Jesus (god) and the concept of evolution. This is silly because many people believe in both evolution as a process and in Jesus. These are not mutually exclusive concepts. One does not logically negate the other. Th even more inane and might I say, self righteous, play on the Darwin Fish is the Evolve fish. It amazes me how some progressives can be so ignorant.

4. Interesting take
See, I always thought the point of the Darwin fish was that you COULD believe in both Jesus and evolution. Thus the merging of the fish and Darwin. Guess that's just how I read it. OH well.

Love the bumpersticker!

7. One could see it that way
but it has been my experience from speaking to others who have them that that is not the intention. It is common to find religious cynics among progressives, democrats, and liberals.

12. That's funny. I see the Darwin fish symbol in the opposite way.
To me it conveys that you CAN believe in God and evolution, hence the juxtaposition.

10. Comes from the Greek word for "fish"
Which has been used as an acronym to refer to Christ. Also there's the connection to the disciples who were fishermen and/or "fishers of men."

11. Also a reference to the age of Pisces
which preceded the age of Aquarius by 2,000 years, and which followed the age of Taurus by the same time span.

17. What the Jesus fish symbolizes
"During the secrecy imposed by the persecutions, the fish symbol was used to identify Christians and their meeting places. A pagan, seeing a fish symbol drawn on the outer wall of a house, would believe that a funeral feast was taking place within. However, to the Christian, the sign indicated that the Eucharistic Mass was being held there that night. A Christian might have a fish drawn on his tomb for religious reasons but a Greek would place a fish on his tomb to show that, during his lifetime, he was a fisherman."

18. And to think McConnell (my Senator from KY) will be the Majority Leader
I plan on becoming more politically active here in KY this year. If McConnell comes anywhere near me, I'll work my way into the crowd and ask him if he plans on destroying the environment to hasten the return of Christ.
