Gay Marriage: I hope the next Democratic Presidential nominee says
he wants to amend the Consitution against gay marriage.

Such an amendment will never pass anyway. Nor should such an amendment pass.

So let's not lose again with this issue.

2. Kerry tried to take a moderate positon that he's
against gay marriage but doesn't want to amend the Constituion.

It didn't work.

The Democratic nominee will have to say he wants to amend the Constituion against gay-marriage to get the issue off the table.

4. So you would have our candidate approve
of state-sponsored discrimination against 10% of the populace based on some religious drivel?

Uh uh, sorry, no way. If that happens the terrorist, um, republicans, have won, and we may as well give up. WE would be the republicans then.

5. and
I suppose in '68 the democrats should've opposed civil rights laws, too?

6. Maybe he should say he's for working people
I know many people who voted for Bush over Kerry. They always talk about how rich Kerry is. Why do we nominate a rich candidate? It's unnecessary. I think it's a shame Gephardt wasn't nominated myself.

7. unfortunately, it very well may pass
State amendments passed in every state it was on the ballot (even the relatively liberal state of Oregon)

8. And I hope the next Dem nominee says "Make Blacks 2/3 human legally"
...do you really want to go there?

How nice of you say right and wrong and human rights is less important to you than winning.

Your suggestion to pander to prejudice is disgusting and I make no bones about saying that.

12. Perhaps he should introduce a new "Defense of Marriage"
act, making divorce, spousal abuse, dead beat dads, etc. crimianl offenses. That might "defend" marriage.

13. I don't think so.
You want to loose a sizable portion of your supporters as well? If the next Dem candidate says anything along those lines I won't be voting in that election.
