As a Catholic, I Am Outraged . . .
I received this e-mail today. I DO NOT remember ever receiving anything from this organization, nor did I ever give them my e-mail.

Subject : Catholics Against Kerry

Dear Friends,

I want to thank all of you for your support in this campaign. We had
overwhelming success, and your prayers, kind words, and your support made it
all possible. As you know by now, Senator Kerry has conceded the election
to George Bush. We have also learned that despite all his efforts to
exploit a Catholic background to steal Catholic votes, John Kerry did very
poorly with Catholics. After Senator Kerry's strong showing among Catholics
in the Democratic primaries, no one would have guessed he would lose the
Catholic vote to George Bush, but he did. You made that possible! Your
financial support, your kind words to us, your prayers, and your grass roots
effort made the difference in this election.

With that help, we were able to drive home that Senator Kerry's politics did
not match Catholic values, and our efforts in key battleground states met
with great success. Our website had almost 90,000 Unique visitors! You
helped us air radio ads in English, Spanish, and Navajo in key battleground
states, and the reports we've had indicate that these ads were extremely
effective. Together, we've distributed thousands and thousands of bumper
stickers, yard signs, t-shirts, buttons, and even a few coffee mugs! You
distributed our voter guides in Spanish and English. We had CAK supporters
protesting John Kerry events around the country. All in all, together we
made a tremendous impact on this election. I've been honored and privileged
to have your support over these last six months.
Thank you!

God will bless each of you and this great nation for all of your efforts.

1. That reminds me, I have to call my diocese
I'm still waiting for them to call me back regarding denying John Kerry the right to Communion, while Jeb Bush is free to receive communion despite his support of war and the death penalty.

2. Send them anyone of the numerous vatican letters on making your
decision based on more than one issue. Send them an armful of service brochures...so they can sign up their younguns for service. I feel much the same way.

3. the church will continue
to do stuff like this as long as people put up with it.

If you still consider yourself a catholic, then you're enabling their agenda of hate.

4. I'm catholic and they are doing the same....................
thing that they did in Germany. Nothing more than empowering Fascist.
The sad thing is that the right is going to come after them/us just as soon as they get rid of the gays, blacks and jews.

6. American Catholics
are generally only concerned w/ abortion. That's why the Vatican is fed up with us, we can't just take abortion as the way to vote without considering the poor, the environment and capital punishment.

7. I am not surprised

This religion and every other, is not a democratic institution. That notion is foreign to this well established , by tradition, dictatorship. You may write all you want to express your displeasure, but you WILL NOT be able to elect a Pope, or interfere with any of his appointees--Bishops, Cardinals or Monsignors--all the Pope's MEN. You do NOT have control over any policy they may force upon you according to their will and political views. You as surrogate are bound to obey their views and have been since you were baptised at the age of two weeks.

I am not trying to specifically point out Catholics, but it is obvious in this election that religious beliefs, not only amongst Catholics, have played a large part in re-(s)electing an insane fascist who is hell bent upon slaughter and killing and domination through Christian soldier military might of vulnerable others in the world, who, coincidently, happen to be a age old, time honored enemy of Christians.

My country as I once knew it, has been overun, and taken down, by religious sheep-like followers of mythology and my country is now gone. I believe that the primary reason for it's fall is this religious belief and Bush has capitalized on that mysticism as have all fascists in the past.

Further I do believe that all religions have their hands out eagerly awaiting the reward for their support of Bush--the faith based money taken from the tax payers in order to shore up their failing churches that are slowly rotting away in their majesty, high cathedral like spires and expensive colored glass windows as well as their financing of missions in those countries we have leveled to ground level in order to convert these enemies to Christianity, the final insult.

Having said that, I am sorry for your angst. I know it must give you some amount of pain to see this split in your religion and it's beliefs.
