Second coming of Christ

If Christ really did come down from on high and appeared tomorrow would the Christian fundamentalists even believe it was Him? Christian fundamentalism seems more like a self-perpetuating hate machine than a legitimate form of theology or religion. It reminds me of tactics like the "Cold War", the "Communist Menace", the "War on Drugs" and now the "War on Terror" that are used to scare the shit out of people to keep them in line but ultimately have no real substance. Christian fundamentalism in this country will ultimately fail because it is morally bankrupt, it relies on fear and hatred. Christians today use the excuse of being "blessed by the Lord" to explain ones wealth and prosperity. Being "blessed by the Lord" gives them free reign to do what ever they want without accountability and this is the most frightening aspect about the Christian Fundamentalist phenomena. Political regimes and religious groups that are unchecked are extremely dangerous, fortunately they are usually self-destructive. Christ's message was one of love, acceptance and understanding and has no resemblance to what is being spread by "Christian" fundamentalists today.
