Christian reconstructionism. PLEASE read this article if you haven't
http://www.yuricareport.com/Dominionism/TheDespoilingOfAmerica.htm

BRIEF:
'Most Americans have been aware that religious right Republicans have become extremely active politically in the last twenty years. But because we're Americans and we're mostly tolerant of other people's religious beliefs, their rise to power hasn't really troubled us. We should be troubled. There is now overwhelming evidence that conservative Christians set out to overthrow the government of the United States, dispense with our democracy, and institute in its place, a government ruled by Old Testament laws--including an expanded litany of death penalties. This article is not a conspiracy theory. It contains the legal elements required for the prosecution of any criminal or civil conspiracy in our nation. The proof is in this article. Don't miss this one.'

1. Dude, stop it...
You're gonna scare the kids...

I know it's hard to believe from what you read here, but while the right has many wingnuts, there are too many nominally sensible Republicans to let this happen, except, of course, in Mississippi or South Carolina.

2. I read far more than what is here
Falwell said on the air not ten minutes ago that he started in motion the 2004 election results 25 years ago. And the 'nominally sensible' Republican voices are stifled. How much do you see Olympia Snowe on the air?

4. You may have some trouble proving that one
because I have seen no evidence to support your claim and plenty to suggest that the article is true.

5. you don't know what's been going on in this country
check out this site:

http://www.TheocracyWatch.org

based at Cornell University, how the Religious RIght took over the Republican Party.

The Religious Right has strong influence in 18 state GOP organizations, and "moderate" influence in 26 others.

This goes far beyond Mississippi and South Carolina.

These guys are now totally in control. You don't have to take my word for it. We'll see the results very soon.

As for the moderate republicans, the ones I know are disgusted with the influence the religious right has at the national level (in the NE US their influence is minimal)

11. And these nominally sensible repukes you speak of.......
would never ever think about jumping on the band wagon and going along with their crowd, eh? Nah they'd never dream of it:eyes: Not in a million years.

If past repub behavior is any indication of future repub behavior? Have another tap with the ol'
clue stick :spank:
 "Nominally Sensible" seem to be the key words here.

You said it I didn't:shrug:

15. The "sensible" ones will go along for the greed factor
The Republican party these days is the perfect marriage of God and money, and in many cases the God IS money.

I wish some of these so-called Christians would actually READ their bibles and contemplate what is written there...*sigh*

3. The reconstructionists are pretty sneaky about what they are doing...
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 08:03 PM by UdoKier
Most of the run-of-the-mill fundies have no idea that they are helping to dismantle all of our democratic institutions, one by one.

The reconstructionists' ultimate goal, a dictatorship under the bible which allows for "benevolent" slavery and stoning adulterers would be horrifying to more than a few fundies...

But that doesn't mean they couldn't make it happen.

We should all start embroidering our scarlet letters now in preparation, I suppose.

9. Christian Dominionism- Read this too
Jesus Plus Nothing

This is how they pray: a dozen clear-eyed, smooth-skinned “brothers” gathered together in a huddle, arms crossing arms over shoulders like the weave of a cable, leaning in on one another and swaying like the long grass up the hill from the house they share. The house is a handsome, gray, two-story colonial that smells of new carpet and Pine-Sol and aftershave; the men who live there call it Ivanwald. At the end of a tree-lined cul-de-sac, quiet but for the buzz of lawn mowers and kids playing foxes-and-hounds in the park across the road, Ivanwald sits as one house among many, clustered together like mushrooms, all devoted, like these men, to the service of Jesus Christ. The men tend every tulip in the cul-de-sac, trim every magnolia, seal every driveway smooth and black as boot leather. And they pray, assembled at the dining table or on their lawn or in the hallway or in the bunk room or on the basketball court, each man's head bowed in humility and swollen with pride (secretly, he thinks) at being counted among such a fine corps for Christ, among men to whom he will open his heart and whom he will remember when he returns to the world not born-again but remade, no longer an individual but part of the Lord's revolution, his will transformed into a weapon for what the young men call “spiritual war.”

26. What surprised me in that article...
was to find my own Congressman's name listed there.

Bart Stupak, Democrat from the 1st Congressional District of Michigan.

I had no idea he was involved in all of this.

10. I can easily believe this stuff is happening .... BUT...
why then would they be talking about running Rudy "Family Values" Guiliani in 2008?? ... and why would Orin Hatch be pushing an amendment to the Constitution on Arnold "The Groper" Schwarzenegger's behalf to allow immigrants to run for president?

20. Because all they need is a little SCOTUS.
There's a big, fat, smelly, farting elephant in the room and nobody at DU wants to mention it.

SCOTUS--kiss your Constitution, and your ass, goodbye.

22. The one point that most people miss in this...
is that religion is being used as a tool. The "leaders" wear a mantle of religion to sway their supporters, they do not necessarily hold such beliefs themselves. In fact, Leo Strauss, the father of their philosophy, would prefer they didn't. Religion is their "opiate of the masses" to be used so that the people "are like putty in their hands."

When religion no longer is needed as a tool, it will be cast aside, if not outright destroyed.

I have been blogging about exactly this subject lately, and have done quite a bit of research into Straussian Machiavellianism. You might find my blog interesting... if not outright shocking.

23. They need for their "leader" to appear as an ordinary man
but it is the men behind the leader that take control.

Every time i saw an article with these type of "christians" and the Born Again people i always asked myself why they acted as if they are being persecuted, as if they were the jews during WW2. Now i finally understand thats its because they are insane and want to makes us look like the bad guys.

24. It is a "brotherhood"
Make no mistake about that. The main "leader" is not ignorant about what his "brothers" are doing. They work in concert with each other and with big business, which owns the media.

This is one monsterously big dragon.
