It's their fucking redneck, rapturous agenda that's waging war on Islam and its the blue states that'll get the brunt of terror attacks. Assholes. Mandate my fucking ass.

4. Throw IL into that mix as well.
Chicago is definitely a terror target.

The terrorists hit the blue states, and then the red states use the blue states' pain to spread their vile red state agenda. :puke:

5. Can't forget the Motor City
We Michiganians didn't vote for the dink here, either. Neither did Minnesota, Wisconsin nor Illinois.
John
We folks in the Great Lakes region are pretty smart and reasonably well-educated. Dopey didn't win either presidential election here in MI and didn't even carry the Repuke primary back in 2000 (McCain did).

8. The people of New York, LA, Chicago, etc., showed bravery
while the cowards in rural America hid in their homes, watching FAUX News and voting for *. And when one of our great cities is hit, they'll cry crocodile tears and extole the virtues of their CiC. Selfish cowards.

11. I believe the muslim civilian death toll in Iraq along wit this admin-
istration' goal of shoving democracy down the throats of the Middle east threatens Muslims, fuels their hatred of Americans, increases the number of terorist recruits and increases the likelihood of a terrorist attack on American soil. And don't forget to factor in the failure to secure radioactive materials and high grade munitions. The result is a recipe for a catostophic attack on American soil... and it sure as hell ain't gonna be in Omaha, now is in, Janx? And the only time Bush will seem to care is when he's standing on the next mound of rubble with a megaphonem posing with firemen, telling everyone how sad he feels.

12. I find your depiction/definition of people living in states
not on the coasts a bit extreme, simplistic, and provincial. This country is not so easily divided. There are plenty of people who live in the MAJORITY of American states who have worked very hard to oust this corrupt and despicable administration.

To label them the way you do doesn't help much.

Florida, next to the largest Air Base in the US. I still believe this state as blue or bluer than it was in 2000. Even with all the military, military retired and retirees we have here, some of those have to care about future generations.

I refuse to accept that FL actually went to Butt Nugget.

I know folks might not agree, but we here in South Florida are vulnerable. Huge gay concentration, huge port facilities, banana republic, corrupt govt.

15. Hey, wait a minute!
Minnesota is BLUE. Not only did we go to Kerry, but we took back 13 seats from Repukes in the State House, so the House is now tied. Democrats control the State Senate.

And as long as the effing Independents don't run a candidate for governor, asshole Pawlenty is toast in 2006.

19. Well, according to the Insurance Services Office....
( February 27) -- The Insurance Services Office (ISO) has labeled Seattle among America's nine most likely targets for terrorist attacks, a designation which could cause terror insurance premiums in the city to become almost 20 times more expensive than in most of the nation.

The city is ranked in the second tier of the ISO's three-level ranking system, joined by such major markets as Boston and Los Angeles. New York, the District of Columbia, San Francisco, and Chicago comprise the four top-tier cities deemed most at risk for future attacks.

24. can you tell us how Illinois turned so Democratic ?
it was a swing state a few years ago. but it turned into safe blue and one of those solidly on Kerry's side.

but it wasn't always like this, so what happened ? did it have to do with population shifts in race, religion, immigration etc ?

i live in california and we are kind of similar but we have that idiot arnold. i know here it has a lot to do with our strong positions on abortion rights and gun control. even the majority of catholics in california support abortion rights. majority oppose constitutional bans on same sex marriage also. i think what happened here has a lot to do with diversity in race and religion. our economy depends on a lot on new tech so science and support for government funding for research and development. and of course we have the entertainment industry.

27. Many people will tell you that it was the "licenses for bribes" scandal
but I think it was the continual release of people on death row. The licenses for bribes scandal involved the Secretary of State who became the Republican governor (Ryan). They were using the office as a campaign fundraising tool.

However, I believe that it was the death row issue. At Northwestern University, there is an organization through the law school that researched cases and found one person after another who was wrongly placed on death row. It got so big that the Republican governor stayed all executions and reviewed all cases. He pardoned some and communted the sentences of all others.

A Democratic governor was then elected along with just about every other state office.

30. Pretty fair analysis.
IL has always been highly-competitive, but the Republican party maintained a stranglehold on the governor's office for over a generation, and corruption (like rot) set in. It all came to a head under former governor George Ryan, and even many lifelong Republicans were horrified at the institutional corruption within the party.

The Republican party is now in the midst of a civil war (RW v. moderate/paleo-con), and it is publicly imploding. IL will remain solidly blue for at LEAST 10 years, maybe longer.

25. Part of the neocon plan
If a major suburban center in Blue America gets attacked again, it will only solidify support for Bush's agenda across the board, especially in the Blue states.

If they didn't get hit in the attack(s) themselves, neocons would probably see this as a win-win. Given how many of them are ex-Marxists, they're a coldblooded lot and willing to see a lot of people die for their ideals. Not that they ever run for office themselves. Their goal is to be the power behind the throne.
