About Hillary's High Negatives (They don't EXIST!)
Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 10:07 PM by tritsofme
Its a myth created by conventional wisdom and the media.

Her negatives are as high as could be expected by a figure that has been in the national spotlight for 12 years.

To me it looks like her favorables have been trending up, not down, and in July her favorables were higher than any point since Bill left office.

3. Now Wanna Bet How Many Dollars It Brings Into GOOP Coffers?
Now if you're going to run poll numbers...and isn't it a bit too soon to start running those past most of us with very red asses from believing the numbers we saw last Tuesday?...I'd bet Hillary doesn't do as well in the states that made a difference last Tuesday and I wouldn't dare want to venture into the real Red states.

If you think the Wingnut lie and hate machine went after Kerry or even Bill, they're spoiling for Hillary. She's a Repugnican fundraisers greatest dream, hate radio talkers wettest dream and the cable newswhores will run and rerun every wart they find about her.

Right now I'm looking 2006...we have some serious work to be done there. We have to start winning House and Senate seats even to think about having a chance in 2008. Time to really start thinking locally....and put those poll numbers where your Zogby don't shine

4. well,
not quite sure what this is - National? NY?

She is quite good. I spend a lot of time in upstate NY, and I think people would be quite surprised at how rural conservative voters react to her. Politically, her outreach to her state is one of the best I've ever seen.

6. No Democrat will ever be elected president, again.
Not Hill, not Dean, not Lieberman, none of em. They have all the apparatus in place to put in their favorite puppets and they won't let it occur.

9. those are pretty high negatives
on a national basis... You're talking in the 40s already before the Republican machine can twist and turn her into pulp. Most Senators or governors on a national basis are unknown and have a lot lower unfavorables. Look at Kerry before he was nominated, he ended up having a higher unfavorable than * by the time the campaign was ended, and that certainly wasn't the case before '04 since he wasn't widely known.

11. The republicans hate her, but they can't articulate why
If they bring out sexist arguments against her, it'll kill them amongst female voters. It'll shore up the male chauvanist vote, but they're never going to vote Democratic anyway.

and I don't really want her, either. That way, someone named Bush or Clinton will have been our president for at least 24 years.

13. The Clintons are winners, that's all I have to say.
Again--the smack talking about the Clintons is just that until someone else wins elections like they do.

Do I think she could win southern states? I don't know. A lot depends on the next three or so years. I know her husband won them, and I know he'd be out campaigning for her.

She has no exec. experience--but people are acting like that matters. Arnold Schwarzennegger anyone?

16. 38 is a pretty high place to start. IIRC, most of the candidates this year
(except for Sharpton) started with unfavorables in the 20s at the highest.

A reason Gore probably didn't run was because he must have had an unfavorable of about 38-42.

22. All the candidates this year however
Most people had never heard of before.

Hillary has been a national figure for 12 years, its only natural that she would have negatives as high as they are because everyone has an opinion about her.

There's no mud left to find on Hillary, she's a known quantity.

...(afterall, she's been a perfect senator and is now at 38) and I can see her moving much higher.

26. Your numbers are nice, like exit polls. I like Hillary but the Republican
Party members I convinced to vote for Kerry have told me they would never vote for Hillary. If the game plan is to get more dem voters to the poll then she may get elected, but she won't get cross over votes, unless Bill is running as VP.
