In this thread we post all the evidence of vote fraud.
Any and all evidence. Suppression, intimidation and kinky numbers. There are so many threads I can't keep up. Please please keep this thread alive so that there will be one reference point.

Then I would like a response from the Kerry campaign if there are any insiders here that can let us know if the Dems are going to roll again.

E-Voting Machines has a Halliburton/Cheney connection

E-Voting Machines has a Halliburton/Cheney connection. This might be the smoke and gun people right here.

http://www.dissidentvoice.org/April2004/Landes0406.htm

Former President, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice Chairman of SAIC is Admiral Bill Owens, who is now Chairman of the Board for VoteHere. Owens also served as Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and was a senior military assistant to Secretaries of Defense Frank Carlucci and Dick Cheney. Carlucci's company is Carlyle Group, while Vice President Dick Cheney's former employer is Halliburton.

Here is how they cheated by E-machines votes PAY ATTENION

Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 11:03 AM by AIndependentTexan
I posted stuff in this thread

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

I'm going to try to put it all together.

First we started to notice the numbers from this website

http://ustogether.org/Florida_Election.htm

This is where everything started to get a little fishy. My data is coming from Kerry/Edwards online forum. They were watching the same numbers as we were. Here is one Big clue that someone noticed.

e-machine

reg rep: 2,050,619
exp turnout for reg rep: 1,435,385
reg rep who voted: 1,845,876
% turnout: 90%

reg dem: 2,280,374
exp turnout for reg dem: 1,567,297
reg dem who voted: 1,982,210
% turnout: 86.9%

optical scanning:

reg rep: 1,841,873
exp turnout for reg rep: 1,428,220
reg rep who voted: 1,950,213
% turnout: 105.88%

reg dem: 1,980,875
exp turnout for reg dem: 1,503,404
reg dem who voted: 1,445,675
% turnout: 72.98%
----------------

What the bold means is they f'cked up big time. Optical machines are also made by diebold. How is 105.88% even a possible number for a turnout?

Clues that we were cheated by diebold and they rigged it.

98% of registered republicans have voted. That is without absentees. This isn't hard evidence but it does point out a loophole of why they didn't want the absentees to be counted. If it turns out they have over 100% with absentee votes then that is clear proof that Republicans cheated.

Second optiscan totals are important to pay attention too.
The Diebold totals at the top of the page look OK, but on the optiscan results in county after county Republicans supposedly showed up in numbers that are 2, 3, 4 times the number of registered Republicans living in the county (predominantly Dem counties) while Dem turnout was down. How could you expect a 77% turnout in a predominantly Dem county (7-1 Dem over Rep) and yet have Bush win that county by 8-1?

ALL DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND READ

Read this all DU forum members and start paying attention

Colonel Richard Prouty, a very famous insider in the CIA during the sixties, and a strong proponent of the Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories, has this to say about conspiracies:

"Conspiracies are easy to formulate and execute. It is the cover-up that is hard."

www.prouty.org

Coverups all have a certain smell to them. I can smell this one a mile away. One particulary smelly aspect of any coverup is the "media blitz" planned a long time before the conspiracy happens. This is what we are seeing in effect yesterday and today about the election.

This his how Prouty knew there was a conspiracy in the Kennedy assassination. He saw huge full-blown press releases on Oswald, detailing Oswald's life, appearing in the New Zealand press when Oswald had been in police custody for only a couple of hours. This information could have only come from the US National Security organizations, and would have never been given to the press otherwise. Instead, what was given to the press was full-blown, already written articles about Oswald. Prouty recognized the fashion, style, and "smell" of the articles as being a CIA black op. He knew -- he was involved in black ops himself.

What we have seen in the last two days are a series of press releases already prepared long in advance. One of the most damning press releases is the one asking "Why are exit polls so wrong?" This article says that people started getting suspicious that exit polls were wrong when they were so off in the Florida 2000 election! This is SO ABSURD, because the exit polls were right on the money in the Florida 2000 election. As with 2004, the exit polls were off because the voting count was tampered with.

Another blatant coverup example that was CAUGHT was CNN changing their exit poll predicitons on the web for Ohio. They switched their exit poll results at 1:00 AM on Wednesday morning from showing a 2% Kerry lead in Ohio to a 1% Bush lead in Ohio. THESE WERE NOT ELECTION RESULTS, they were exit polls. You can't switch exit polls results, unless you were to take a new exit poll, which is impossible to do after the election is over. CNN did it. They are lying to us.

Another coverup we are experiencing right here in this forum is the instant flooding of the forum by freepers trying to dampen, smash down, or just deflect any discussion of the voter fraud. A lot of these posts are pretty outrageous, but a lot are very mild -- such as "we need to just accept this and move on". Now I know that a lot of regular forum members are saying this too, but the number of NEW members saying this is off the charts.

The coverup is in effect. You can smell it everywhere.

Ohio Machine Error Gives Bush Extra Votes

Email this Story

Nov 5, 7:34 PM (ET)

By JOHN McCARTHY

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An error with an electronic voting system gave President Bush 3,893 extra votes in suburban Columbus, elections officials said.

Franklin County's unofficial results had Bush receiving 4,258 votes to Democrat John Kerry's 260 votes in a precinct in Gahanna. Records show only 638 voters cast ballots in that precinct. Bush's total should have been recorded as 365.

Bush won the state by more than 136,000 votes, according to unofficial results, and Kerry conceded the election on Wednesday after saying that 155,000 provisional ballots yet to be counted in Ohio would not change the result.

Deducting the erroneous Bush votes from his total could not change the election's outcome, and there were no signs of other errors in Ohio's electronic machines, said Carlo LoParo, spokesman for Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell.

Still don't believe they stole it? Look here

This chart shows a breakdown by county of Florida, listing the voters in each broken down by party affiliation, and comparing expected vote totals to the reported results. It is further arranged by seperating the results into two sections, one for "touch-screen" counties and the other for optical scan counties.

http://ustogether.org/Florida_Election.htm

Surprisingly, the results reported by touch-screen counties seem fairly accurate overall especially if you take into account the GOTV effort by Dems that was occuring on the ground here. Let me tell you, by dinnertime on Tuesday we KNEW we were getting huge Dem turnout and the Repubs looked demoralized in their efforts. In most areas there simply WAS no organized Repub effort. But all of that is anecdotal and will be tossed aside by skeptics.

Now look at the optical scan counties. Again and again and again, the expected results there based upon party registration were off. In fact they were not even close. In Liberty County for example, the registered voters there are fully 88.3% Democrats versus a mere 7.9% Republican. However the results reported there indicate that fully 65% of the votes cast for President went to Bush. In heavily populated Duval County Democrats outnumber Republicans on the voter rolls by a good 7% and yet Bush won there by over 60,000 votes, winning the actual vote count by around 60/40. In Baker county there are only about 3200 voters registered as Republicans in the whole county, yet on election day Bush garnered over 7700 votes there. These are just examples, the trend was universal in all the optiscreen counties. Don't believe me, look for yourself. And note this: In those Optiscan counties Bush received just over 600,000 votes more than other data suggest he should have. This by itself is far more than his margin of victory in Florida.

Please note that these counties, touch-screen and optical scan, are intermingled all over the state. Some counties reported results more or less as expected and others posted results that are simply eyepopping for Bush and the only difference in them is the method of voting (and thus counting) used.

These results are just not possible. They aren't. Anyone out there who has taken a basic statistics course will recognize right away upon viewing this that it cannot possibly be a true representation of what happened on Tuesday. I believed there was fraud by 10 PM Tuesday but I didn't really KNOW it in my heart and soul until I saw this.

Evidence of a Second Bush Coup?

Sorry if this is a dupe.

By Robert Parry

Theoretically at least, it is conceivable that sophisticated CIA-style computer hacking – known as “cyber-warfare” – could have let George W. Bush’s campaign transform a three-percentage-point defeat, as measured by exit polls, into an official victory of about the same margin.

Whether such a scheme is feasible, however, is another matter, since it would require penetration of hundreds of local computer systems across the country, presumably from a single remote location. The known CIA successes in cyber-war have come from targeting a specific bank account or from shutting down an adversary’s computer system, not from altering data simultaneously in a large number of computers.

To achieve that kind of result, cyber-war experts say, a preprogrammed “kernel of brain” would have to be inserted into election computers beforehand or teams of hackers would be needed to penetrate the lightly protected systems, targeting touch-screen systems without a paper backup for verifying the numbers.

Though there's still no proof of such a cyber-attack, suspicions are growing that the U.S. presidential election results were manipulated to some degree. Voting analyses of some precincts in Florida and Ohio have found surprisingly high percentages for Bush. Others have noted that the large turnout among young voters and the obvious enthusiasm of John Kerry’s voters would have suggested a better showing for the Democrat.

PS: Here's something I wrote on Bartcop back in April 2001 that pointed out similarities among CIA coup activities in Guatemala and Chile and what happened in Florida.

To believe that Bush won the election, you must also believe:

1- That the exit polls were WRONG...

2- That Zogby's 5pm election day calls for Kerry winning OH, FL were WRONG. He was exactly RIGHT in his 2000 final poll.

3- That Harris last minute polling for Kerry was WRONG. He was exactly RIGHT in his 2000 final poll.

4- The Incumbent Rule I (that undecideds break for the challenger)was WRONG.

5- The 50% Rule was WRONG (that an incumbent doesn't do better than his final polling)

6- The Approval Rating Rule was WRONG (that an incumbent with less than 50% approval will most likely lose the election)

7- That Greg Palast was WRONG when he said that even before the election, 1 million votes were stolen from Kerry. He was the ONLY reporter to break the fact that 90,000 Florida blacks were disnfranchised in 2000.

8- That it was just a COINCIDENCE that the exit polls were CORRECT where there WAS a PAPER TRAIL and INCORRECT (+5% for Bush) where there was NO PAPER TRAIL.

9- That the surge in new young voters had NO positive effect for Kerry.

10- That Bush BEAT 99-1 mathematical odds in winning the election.

11- That Kerry did WORSE than Gore agains an opponent who LOST the support of SCORES of Republican newspapers who were for Bush in 2000.

12- That Bush did better than an 18 national poll average which showed him tied with Kerry at 47. In other words, Bush got 80% of the undecided vote to end up with a 51-48 majority - when ALL professional pollsters agree that the undecided vote ALWAYS goes to the challenger.

13- That Voting machines made by Republicans with no paper trail and with no software publication, which have been proven by thousands of computer scientists to be vulnerable in scores of ways, were NOT tampered with in this election.

Warren's vote tally walled off

Alone in Ohio, officials cited homeland security

By Erica Solvig
Enquirer staff writer

LEBANON - Citing concerns about potential terrorism, Warren County officials locked down the county administration building on election night and blocked anyone from observing the vote count as the nation awaited Ohio's returns.

County officials say they took the action Tuesday night for homeland security, although state elections officials said they didn't know of any other Ohio county that closed off its elections board. Media organizations protested, saying it violated the law and the public's rights. The Warren results, delayed for hours because of long lines that extended voting past the scheduled close of polls, were part of the last tallies that helped clinch President Bush's re-election.

...

Commissioners made the security decisions in a closed-door meeting last week, but didn't publicize the restrictions that were made until after polls closed.

...

"Frankly, we consider that a red herring," (WCPO-TV News Director) Morford said of the county's "homeland security" reason. "That's something that's put up when you don't know what else to put up to keep us out."

...

Having reporters and photographers around could have interfered with the count, (County Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel) said.

10. 88,000 more votes than voters...hmmmmmmmm
Palm Beach County Logs 88,000 More Votes Than Voters

According to the official election results posted on the Palm Beach County election website, 542,835 ballots were cast for a presidential candidate while only 454,427 voters turned out for the election (including absentee). This leaves a discrepancy of 88,408 votes cast for the presidential candidates.

Palm Beach County's supervisor of elections is Theresa LePore who is known for the 2000 Presidential Election and the notorious "butterfly ballot" that caused confusion among seniors and other Floridians.

Other election oddities occurred throughout Florida with some counties registering a 400% increase in expected voter turnout among Republicans while Democrats supposedly experienced a -60% decline in expected support in certain counties. The 50+ counties experiencing the high percentage fluctuations in expected turnout used optical scan voting machines on November 2nd.

Vote discrepancies were also found in Gahanna, Ohio which gave an extra 4,000 votes to President Bush. The error was explained away by Franklin County administrators as a "glitch" in the electronic voting system.

Developing. . .

House Dems Seek Election Inquiry - Wired

http://www.wired.com/news/evote/0,2645,65623,00.html?tw...

Three congressmen sent a letter to the General Accounting Office on Friday requesting an investigation into irregularities with voting machines used in Tuesday's elections.

The congressmen, Democratic members of the House of Representatives from Florida, New York and Michigan, cited a number of incidents that came to light in the days after the election. One was a glitch in Ohio that caused a memory card reader made by Danaher Controls to give George W. Bush 3,893 more votes than he should have received. Another was a problem with memory cards in North Carolina that caused machines made by UniLect to lose 4,500 votes cast on e-voting machines. The votes were lost when the number of votes cast on the machines exceeded the capacity of the memory cards.

In their letter, representatives John Conyers Jr. of Michigan, Jerrold Nadler of New York and Robert Wexler of Florida asked the GAO to "immediately undertake an investigation of the efficacy of voting machines and new technologies used in the 2004 election, how election officials responded to difficulties they encountered and what we can do in the future to improve our election systems and administration."

A shout out for Dems with spines!!!

14. Broward County
Broward machines count backward

By Eliot Kleinberg

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Friday, November 05, 2004

FORT LAUDERDALE — It had to happen. Things were just going too smoothly.

Early Thursday, as Broward County elections officials wrapped up after a long day of canvassing votes, something unusual caught their eye. Tallies should go up as more votes are counted. That's simple math. But in some races, the numbers had gone . . . down.

Cobb Calls For Investigation of Voting Irregularities

Hey, maybe Badnarik will get in on this one, too?

COBB CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION OF VOTING IRREGULARITIES

11/5 - Green Party 2004 presidential candidate David Cobb today called for a thorough investigation of reports of voting fraud, suppression and disenfranchisement.

“It’s Florida all over again. Except this time, it’s Ohio where the person responsible for counting votes is chair of the state Bush campaign. Once again there are widespread reports of intimidation, mis-marked ballots and the targeted disenfranchisement of African American voters. It’s very possible the election has been stolen for the second time in a row and again the Democrats have conceded rather than standing up for the right to vote and the right for people’s votes to count,” said Cobb

Seven counties in Ohio used electronic voting machines which didn’t produce paper trails, meaning that fraud would be difficult if not impossible to detect. A number of these counties’ voting machines were provided by Diebold, Inc., whose CEO is Walden W. O'Dell, a major contributor to the Bush campaign who promised, much like JEB Bush did with Florida in 2000, to deliver Ohio to President Bush. No Republican has ever been elected president without winning Ohio.

“There were definitely problems with the vote count in Ohio. For example, I got a call from one reporter at the Ohio statehouse on Election Night who told me the Secretary of State was reporting that Cobb had 45,000 write in votes in Ohio, which was way off the mark. Just the fact that they can count votes without any paper trail whatsoever is truly terrifying. How are we going to know whether the election was valid or not? Why did the exit polls not match the vote? We deserve answers to these questions. Once again, the legitimacy of the entire Bush administration is in doubt,” said Cobb-LaMarche Media Director Blair Bobier.

(Even though this is local (Charlotte, NC) it's important because the error was in our favor so naturally the republicans got the results overturned. Will it be so easy to get the results overturned for the pres. election?)

" A frenzied retallying of early-voting ballots Thursday edged out Democrat Wilhelmenia Rembert out of a Mecklenberg County commissioners seat and added Republican Ruth Samuelson to the board for now...

More than 3,200 votes were removed from results released Tuesday after republicans pointed out a discrepancy in early-voting totals: more ballots than voters."

Computer glitch still baffles county clerk (affects Dem county in Indiana)

The day after a two-and-a-half-hour delay in counting ballots due to a glitch in a computer program, LaPorte County election officials are still trying to figure out what happened.

"Maybe there was a power surge," LaPorte County Clerk Lynne Spevak said. "Something zapped it."

At about 7 p.m. Tuesday, it was noticed that the first two or three printouts from individual precinct reports all listed an identical number of voters. Each precinct was listed as having 300 registered voters.

That means the total number of voters for the county would be 22,200, although there are actually more than 79,000 registered voters.

Computer May Have Lost 4,500 N.C. Votes

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - More than 4,500 votes may be lost in one North Carolina county because officials believed a computer that stored ballots electronically could hold more data than it did. Scattered other problems may change results in local races around the state.

Officials are investigating whether the lost votes in coastal Carteret County can be retrieved somehow, said state Board of Elections Executive Director Gary Bartlett.

Local officials said UniLect Corp., the maker of the county's electronic voting system, told them that each storage unit could handle 10,500 votes, but the limit was actually 3,005 votes.

Expecting the greater capacity, the county used only one unit during the early voting period. "If we had known, we would have had the units to handle the votes," said Sue Verdon, secretary of the county election board.

Election problems due to a software glitch (11,283 x-tra for Bush in N.C )

Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 03:56 AM by shawn703
A systems software glitch in Craven County's electronic voting equipment is being blamed for a vote miscount that, when corrected, changed the outcome of at least one race in Tuesday's election.

Then, in the rush to make right the miscalculation that swelled the number of votes for president here by 11,283 more votes than the total number cast, a human mistake further delayed accurate totals for the 40,534 who voted.

<snip>

An override, like those occurring when one attempts to save a computer file that already exists, is supposed to prevent double counting, but did not function correctly, Miller said.

Big Voter Turnout Seen Among Young People

By MARTHA IRVINE, AP National Writer

Under-30 voters came through in big numbers this year, with more than 20 million casting a ballot for president, researchers found. The turnout bested their 2000 showing by more than nine percentage points and heartened activists who worked to get young voters to the polls.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041...

Um, am I mistaken, or didn't the RW news sources say on Wednesday morning that young people did not turn out for the election?

House Judiciary Committee Letter to GAO Investigate voting machines!

November 5, 2004

The Honorable David M. Walker

Comptroller General of the United States

U.S. General Accountability Office

441 G Street, NW

Washington, DC 20548

Dear Mr. Walker:

We write with an urgent request that the Government Accountability Office immediately undertake an investigation of the efficacy of voting machines and new technologies used in the 2004 election, how election officials responded to difficulties they encountered and what we can do in the future to improve our election systems and administration.

In particular, we are extremely troubled by the following reports, which we would also request that you review and evaluate for us:

In Columbus, Ohio, an electronic voting system gave President Bush nearly 4,000 extra votes. "Machine Error Gives Bush Extra Ohio Votes," Associated Press, November 5.

An electronic tally of a South Florida gambling ballot initiative failed to record thousands of votes. "South Florida OKs Slot Machines Proposal," Id.

In one North Carolina county, more than 4,500 votes were lost because officials mistakenly believed a computer that stored ballots could hold more data that it did. "Machine Error Gives Bush Extra Ohio Votes," Id.

In San Francisco, a glitch occurred with voting machines software that resulted in some votes being left uncounted. Id.

In Florida, there was a substantial drop off in Democratic votes in proportion to voter registration in counties utilizing optical scan machines that was apparently not present in counties using other mechanisms. http://ustogether.org/election04/florida_vote_patt.htm

The House Judiciary Committee Democratic staff has received numerous reports from Youngstown, Ohio that voters who attempted to cast a vote for John Kerry on electronic voting machines saw that their votes were instead recorded as votes for George W. Bush. In South Florida, Congressman Wexler's staff received numerous reports from voters in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade Counties that they attempted to select John Kerry but George Bush appeared on the screen. CNN has reported that a dozen voters in six states, particularly Democrats in Florida, reported similar problems. This was among over one thousand such problems reported. "Touchscreen Voting Problems Reported," Associated Press, November 5.

Excessively long lines were a frequent problem throughout the nation in Democratic precincts, particularly in Florida and Ohio. In one Ohio voting precinct serving students from Kenyon College, some voters were required to wait more than eight hours to vote. "All Eyes on Ohio," Dan Lothian, CNN, November 3, http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/blog/1...blog/index ... ..

We are literally receiving additional reports every minute and will transmit additional information as it comes available. The essence of democracy is the confidence of the electorate in the accuracy of voting methods and the fairness of voting procedures. In 2000, that confidence suffered terribly, and we fear that such a blow to our democracy may have occurred in 2004.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this inquiry.

John Conyers, Jr. Jerrold Nadler Robert Wexler

Comparing count totals for Turnout from the County Reporting and comparing to the sum for the county for the Presidential Unofficial Returns turns up a red flag here:

Escambia 100.0% reported
scambia
Bush -93,367
Kerry - 48,243
Peroutka -527
Badnarik - 218
Cobb - 48
Harris - 15
Brown - 27
Nader - 545

Total: 142,990
Turnout: 161,183
Missing: 18,193

They expect a percentage of spoiled or undervotes, but this is high in comparison to the others I've checked so far (going alphabetically).

Mentions DU.

I can't help but see that so many of these articles slamming the desent of the election results, the writers refer to the LAST exit poll results.

From what I've seen, the LAST exit poll results are what are in question because they show significant "tweeking" from earlier exit polls; i.e. how can an exit poll go from 1,9** to 2,0** and have the percentage change by 3 or more percent?

Can you say TWEAK?!!!

I'm I wrong on that?

The original article is located at: http://www.salon.com/tech/feature/2004/11/04/touch_scre...

Time for Americans to start waving the flag and quit wearing it over their heads. Time to question the results if they don't hold up to the only way we have to know if they were skewed; in this case EARLY exit polls.

Did e-voting fraud help Bush steal the election?
The Internets are abuzz with rumors that Bush won with the help of rigged electronic voting machines.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Farhad Manjoo

Nov. 4, 2004 | Lefty Web sites are buzzing with a supposed "statistical analysis" that they say proves that Republicans stole the election by rigging paperless touch screen machines. According to the analysis performed by a Democratic Underground regular who goes by the handle SoCalDemocrat, states that use electronic machines were all showing strong Kerry support in exit polls, but when the results came in, the states went to Bush. The polls (which are based on interviews with voters as they leave the polls) indicate that voters in the state really voted for Kerry, the lefties say; the machines distorted or changed their votes. "Maybe Dubayah believes God will see him through this, but it's going to take more than blind faith to pull the wool over the data and the facts," SoCalDemocrat writes.

But as we see it, SoCalDemocrat's evidence is quite thin. For one thing, he appears to be wrong on the facts. While he's correct that exit polls showed a Kerry victory in many states that actually went to Bush, this didn't only happen in states that use paperless touch screen machines.

The most obvious example is Nevada, the only state in the nation to use what many computer scientists consider to be the safest touch-screen machines -- machines that print a paper ballot that is reviewed by the voter as each vote is cast, a so-called voter-verified paper trail. In Nevada, the last exit polls showed Kerry leading Bush by 49 to 48 percent, with 1 percent for Ralph Nader. The actual result was a win for Bush by 51 to 48 percent.

And even in states that did use paperless touch-screen machines, it's not clear that Bush made his gains in the areas of the states that used them, rather than regions that use other machines. For instance, in Florida, it's the state's large South Florida counties that use paperless touch screens. But Bush did worse in these regions in 2004 than in 2000. In the 2000 race in Miami-Dade, Bush got about 47 percent of the two-party share of the vote, while Al Gore received 53 percent; this year, Bush only got 46 percent of the two-party vote there, while Kerry got 54 percent. What this means is that in the move from punch-card machines (which, as everyone remembers, Miami-Dade used in 2000) to paperless touch-screens, Bush actually did worse, not better. At the same time, the president gained in Orange County, Florida. In 2000, Gore beat Bush in Orange County, whose largest city is Orlando; this year, Kerry lost to Bush there. And Bush didn't need rigged machines to do it: Orlando uses paper-based optical-scan voting machines -- which computer scientists consider more reliable than the touch screen systems.

Even if unfounded, the Democratic Underground set's suspicion is understandable. The exit polls were odd. And who can forget the infamous pledge of Wally O'Dell, CEO of touch-screen machine vendor Diebold, to deliver Ohio's electoral votes to Bush this year? (Ohio, however, used few paperless touch-screens.) It's certainly worthwhile to scrutinize how the technology functioned in this year's election, but to date there simply isn't the evidence to conclude that the election was "stolen" using it. One way to make sure future presidential races are above such suspicion would be to add paper trails to all the paperless machines.

Carteret tries to solve voting problems
(Kingston Free Press, North Carolina)

The problem surfaced Tuesday night as election officials began reviewing Election Night numbers.

After the polls closed at 7:30 p.m., results quickly poured from computers into the elections office from 33 of the county's 34 precincts. While waiting for the Peletier precinct, where voting continued as late as 10 p.m., election workers began tallying the absentees, no excuses ballots and Election Day tallies. They found their numbers didn't match the numbers they were getting from a computerized printout.

"That's when we started looking," Verdon said.

The county's technical consultants contacted UniLect Corp., the manufacturer of Carteret County's electronic voting system. It was determined that the county had been given misinformation about how many votes the system can store.

Broward Ballot Blunder Changes Amendment Result

The Broward County Elections Department has egg on its face after a computer glitch misreported a key amendment race, according to Local 10 political reporter Michael Putney.

Amendment 4, which would allow Miami-Dade and Broward counties to hold a future election to decide if slot machines should be allowed at racetracks, was thought to be tied. But now that a computer glitch for machines counting absentee ballots has been exposed, it turns out the amendment passed.

"The software is not geared to count more than 32,000 votes in a precinct. So what happens when it gets to 32,000 is the software starts counting backward," said Broward County Mayor Ilene Lieberman.

Report Says Problems Led to Skewed Surveying Data (exit polls)

Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 09:10 PM by quaoar
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/05/politics/campaign/05p...

By JIM RUTENBERG

Published: November 5, 2004

The new $10 million polling system used by many news organizations to predict the outcome of the presidential race had a number of problems that led to the early erroneous impression that John Kerry was heading for victory, according to a report prepared by the system's architects.

The report, written by Joe Lenski and Warren Mitofsky and obtained by The New York Times, details systemic glitches that skewed the data in ways of which several news organizations, who paid tens of thousands of dollars for the service, were not aware.

In some cases, the report said, survey takers could not get close enough to the polls to collect adequate samples of voters opinion. They were often stopped by legal barriers devised to keep people electioneering - not necessarily bona fide poll canvassers - away from voters.

The report also theorized that the poll results more frequently overstated support for Mr. Kerry than for President Bush because the Democratic nominee's supporters were more open to pollsters. Whatever the case, according to the report, the surveys had the biggest partisan skew since at least 1988, the earliest election the report tracked.

Bloggers blamed for misleading poll information

http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/1103eln-exit-pol...

Associated Press

NEW YORK - News organizations promised Wednesday to look into why their Election Day exit polls showed an initial surge for John Kerry, but also blamed bloggers for spreading news that gave a misleading view of the presidential race.

The exit poll data was delivered at several points Tuesday to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel and the Associated Press by the National Election Pool, a company formed in the wake of the networks' blown calls on election night 2000.

The first wave showed Kerry with a lead of three percentage points in Florida and four points in Ohio - both battleground states won by President Bush when the votes were actually counted, giving the president his margin of victory. advertisement

"Once one part of it is in question and is wrong, it kind of puts the whole thing in question," said Marty Ryan, Fox News Channel's executive producer for political coverage. "It was disappointing. ... During the primary season, it worked very well for us, we were happy with it. But that was not good last night."

Very small drips, not because we are trying to stall, but because many of the problem documents beget FOIAs for additional, related documents to rule out the bullshit excuses. In many cases we need to avoid calling attention to what we are looking at until we close the exit doors entirely.

But you can expect interesting reading, though the parts we can release at this time without jeopardizing other stuff will appear nonconclusive.

Heh.

Heh heh.

Note: These numbers were calculated when the Florida vote was 98.6% in.

Explanation of What these numbers are, and how they were calculated:
PERCENT CHANGE for DEM, for example, = (Actual DEM Vote - Expected DEM Vote) / (Expected DEM Vote)

This is a simple percent change measure taught in highschool mathematics.

EXPECTED_VOTES REP = the percentage of registered REP * the total number of voters who voted in each county on Tuesday.

EXPECTED votes would normally vary from the ACTUAL votes due to increased voter turnout or other factors. What seems very odd in these numbers is that the increase in ACTUAL votes from EXPECTED votes has a striking pattern of being so much higher for REPs than that for DEMs in counties using optical scan voting machines.

38. Could someone please help me.
My husband is screaming "get off that goddamn demographic underground." I also have to get ready to take my kid to baseball practice. I know it is alot of work searching back pages and pages of threads in different forums. But if anyone is interested, I surely would be most grateful.

40. More evidence from FL
Here's a conundrum from the Florida results:

Bush - 3,911,825/52%
Kerry - 3,534,609/47%

Referendum question to raise the Florida minimum wage $1

Yes - 4,834,437/71%
No - 1,990,465/29%

Does this mean that 800,000 conservative Bush voters flip-flopped and became progressives before they got to the end of the ballot?

I've sent this question to Greg Palast for his analysis. Any ideas here?

PRELIMINARY PRES. ELECTION FRAUD PROBABILITY ANALYSIS

Historically, Exit polls are accurate within 2%

The deviation is the difference in percent between the first exit polls and the vote.

All the following states final results agreed with the exit polls

THEY ALL HAD PAPER TRAILS.

State...% voting deviation from exit polls
+2B means the change was + 2 for Bush

AZ 0
LA +2B
MI 0
IA +1B
ME 0 <no BBV
NV 0 < paper trail
MO -1B
IL 0 paper ballot

..............................................................
Now look at the states that were in play where there was NO paper trail. They ALL had Bush doing MUCH better than the Exit polls indicated.

They were ALL WAY OUTSIDE the 2% MoE.

WI +4B
PA +5B
OH +6B
FL +7B
MN +7B
NH +15B
NC +9B
CO +4B
NM +3B

ALL RESULTS WERE SKEWED TO BUSH!

IS THAT JUST A COINCIDENCE? HOW COME THE SHARP DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BBV PAPER TRAIL AND NON-PAPER TRAIL STATES?

Any deviations above 5% have a probability of 0 to 1%.
Deviation = 4% has a probability of 2%.
Deviation = 3% has a probability of 4%

The JOINT COMBINED probability is VIRTUALLY ZERO that these were just random deviations!

THIS HAS THE MAKINGS OF A CLEAR CIRCUMSTANTIAL CASE THAT THIS WAS A MASSIVELY TAINTED ELECTION.

Democrats blast GOP lawmaker's 'suppress the Detroit vote' remark

Wednesday, July 21, 2004

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Democrats on Wednesday denounced a Republican lawmaker quoted in a newspaper as saying the GOP would fare poorly in this year's elections if it failed to "suppress the Detroit vote."

State Rep. John Pappageorge, R-Troy, acknowledged using "a bad choice of words" but said his remark shouldn't be construed as racist.

Pappageorge, 73, was quoted in July 16 editions of the Detroit Free Press as saying, "If we do not suppress the Detroit vote, we're going to have a tough time in this election."

"I'm extremely disappointed in my colleague," state Sen. Buzz Thomas, D-Detroit, told reporters Wednesday during a conference call. "That's quite clearly code that they don't want black people to vote in this election."

more... http://www.freep.com/news/latestnews/pm20777_20040721.htm

True, Kerry won Michigan, but I think that the comment pretty well sums up what happened this last week. The fact that electric voting machine companies are mostly a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party, and were likely used in highly anti-Democratic ways, is ugly BUT the Repukes still subscribe to the oldest trick in the book, suppress the vote of those that are likely to oppose you.

I guess that the Bushites don't take the The Voting Rights Act of 1965 seriously? Also that "spoilage" issue falls into the "suppression" camp IMO as well.

We've been suppressed.

I suppose that question that follows is "Now that we know, what are we going to do about it?"

Stay the course?

Two recent news stories about a recount in Sarpy County Nebraska (Omaha area) due to unexplained additional votes:

"Technicians with Election Systems & Software, a company that assists the election office in counting the votes, worked all day Tuesday to analyze the problem.

Gilbert said officials ruled out their earlier theory that some of the computer disks containing vote tallies had been loaded twice. They now suspect that the disk contained "a fatal error" that produced the bad numbers, he said"

Apparently, a computer glitch added thousands of votes to the final total.

46. Zogby predictions on young voters
I posted this here before. A huge statisticial anomaly:

Zogby expected a very large turnout among young voters, with at least 55 percent voting in today's election.

Among voters ages 18 to 29, polls indicate that 0 percent are undecided, Zogby said. He believes that group will give Kerry the edge.

Kerry will get 64 percent of those votes followed by Bush with 35 percent and third-party candidate Ralph Nader with just 1 percent, Zogby said.

http://www.zogby.com/Soundbites/ReadClips.dbm?ID=10289

So Zogby predicted 64:35 for Kerry
It turned out to be 55:45 for Kerry, according to CNN.

This election was stolen from the young voters.

Btw, Zogby now claims he predicted the results quite accurately. That's not true. He predicted a landslide for Kerry.

More than 4,500 North Carolina votes lost because of mistake in voting machine capacity

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) — More than 4,500 votes have been lost in one North Carolina county because officials believed a computer that stored ballots electronically could hold more data than it did. Scattered other problems may change results in races around the state.

Officials said UniLect Corp., the maker of the county's electronic voting system, told them that each storage unit could handle 10,500 votes, but the limit was actually 3,005 votes.

<snip>

Officials said 3,005 early votes were stored, but 4,530 were lost.

Jack Gerbel, president and owner of Dublin, Calif.-based UniLect, said Thursday that the county's elections board was given incorrect information. There is no way to retrieve the missing data, he said.

"That is the situation and it's definitely terrible," he said.

OSCE Says US Election "Mostly" Fair
Deutsche Welle, Nov 6

...

The newly implemented voting computers with touch screen technology were a source of much concern before the election, though they appear to have passed OSCE muster. There were only "occasional" failures, the organization said.

But several individual observers were more critical in their personal remarks. Polish observer Konrad Olszewski told the International Herald Tribune that the e-voting system in Venezuela was better protected against failures and errors than the computers used in Florida.

"To be honest, monitoring elections in Serbia a few months ago was much simpler," he added. Serbia uses a unified voting system with paper ballots, which Olszewski said he prefers over all other systems.

His Canadian team partner, Ron Gould, also said he thought Venezuela's e-voting system was more fraud-proof than the touch screens used in Florida. "Each electronic vote in Venezuela also produces a ticket that voters then drop into a ballot box," Gould told the IHT. "Unlike fully electronic systems, this gives a backup that can be used to counter claims of massive fraud."

Voters double-dip in Ohio, Fla.
More than 27,000 are registered in both states, could cast ballots in either place

Sunday, October 31, 2004
Scott Hiaasen, Dave Davis and Julie Carr Smyth
Plain Dealer Reporters
Hundreds of voters could easily cast ballots Tuesday in both Ohio and Florida because they are eligible to vote in both states and have received absentee ballots from election officials in Ohio, The Plain Dealer has found.

And if they do, they almost certainly will go undetected.

These people are among more than 27,000 listed as active voters in both Ohio and Florida who could cast ballots in either of the two states, both among the most closely contested in the presidential race.

Despite increased scrutiny of voting procedures following the 2000 election - and a federal reform law aimed at shoring up the patchwork system - virtually nothing prevents transient voters from casting ballots in multiple states, testing a system that relies more on the honesty of individual voters than on any checks and balances.

51. Miami County, Ohio. Fraud or incredible coincidences?

Miami County, Ohio, pre-official results as of 9am EST Wednesday:

Miami
Bush, George W. Republican 20,807 65.80%
Kerry, John F. Democratic 10,724 33.92%
Badnarik, Michael 55 0.17%
Peroutka, Michael Anthony 34 0.11%
Cobb, David Keith-WI 0 0.00%
Duncan, Richard A.-WI 0 0.00%
Schriner, Joe -WI 0 0.00%
Parker, John T.-WI 0 0.00%
Harris, James -WI 0 0.00%
Zych, Thomas F.-WI 0 0.00%
Precincts Reporting: 100.00% 31,620

After that, they found nearly 19,000 more ballots and changed their results to:

Miami
Bush, George W. Republican 33,039 65.77%
Kerry, John F. Democratic 17,039 33.92%
Badnarik, Michael 101 0.20%
Peroutka, Michael Anthony 56 0.11%
Cobb, David Keith-WI 0 0.00%
Duncan, Richard A.-WI 0 0.00%
Schriner, Joe -WI 0 0.00%
Parker, John T.-WI 0 0.00%
Harris, James -WI 0 0.00%
Zych, Thomas F.-WI 0 0.00%
Precincts Reporting: 100.00% 50,235

Note that they had 100% of their precincts reporting on Wednesday, and still 100% now.

More importantly, note that the Kerry percentage of the votes stayed exactly the same to the one-hundredth of a percentage-point (or, one in 10,000) even after the nearly 19,000 ballots were added to the 31,620 reported earlier. And the Bush percentage was only three one-hundreths of a percentage-point different after the revision. Also, the vote counts for both Bush and Kerry end in the digits “039.”

Is all of this a long-shot coincidence? Or, were the revised vote counts scaled up by using the ratios from the first set of results? Was a database or all of the voting machines programmed to cough up results in preset ratios?

If the latter two questions above are true, we have election fraud.

Statistically speaking, it is all but impossible for two sets of ballots, each having tens of thousands of ballots, to have exactly the same mean for Kerry and almost exactly the same mean for Bush.

Coupled with the Gahanna fiasco discovered yesterday, Friday by another DUer, it is evident that Ohio elections are open to fraud and incompetence. Apparently, no one is guarding the chicken house there.

Did ANY votes accidentally go to Kerry?

I have shown some repubs all these countless articles of votes accidentally going to Bush and they just act like we are nutjobs. Oh well mistakes happen.

But did ANY votes accidentally go to Kerry? I haven't found any article stating that. If it's true wouldn't that seem a little weird? Wouldn't that make people finally step up and listen? Yes mistakes are going to happen but every single mistake just so happens to go in Bush's favor???

Why a voting system would be designed to count backward was a mystery to Broward County Mayor Ilene Lieberman. She was on the phone late Wednesday with Omaha-based Elections Systems and Software.

55. Voter News Service (VNS)
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Articles/Landes_Projections.htm

The news networks don't just report election news, they create it. But do they also conspire to control election results?

Voter News Service (VNS) is a top-secret private consortium owned by ABC News, The Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, and NBC News. It's current headquarters is in Brooklyn, New York. It's been around (under different names) since 1964. It's the only company whose exit poll results are used by the news media to announce the "projected" winners in races for the president, U.S. House and Senate, state governors, and select races.

By 1964, computers were used to predict election outcomes, as well as to count votes on "punch cards." With the use of computerized vote counters and the news networks exclusive control over polling data in major elections, the gates to election fraud were wide open. Computerized voting machines have now made election fraud as easy as stealing candy from a baby.

So how could VNS help rig an election? VNS could conspire with corrupt government officials and crooked voting machine companies (whose reputation for fraud and "error" grows with every election) to come up with projections that closely mirror the expected election results. Then all that's needed is some 'tweaking' in targeted precincts where voting data can be manipulated, voting machines rigged ....and elections swung. VNS follows through with its de facto certification of election results that have already been fixed. If someone suspects vote rigging, there's always VNS to say that the results match their projections.

And with no oversight, who's to know?

They hire college students. I was a college student doing intake at the World Trade Center offices during several elections.

I was there before and after computerization. I took the intake for Texas during Ann Richard's election, and then during her defeat. Once the office went to computer input, we weren't divided by states anymore, we just took whatever calls came. We had two or three long training sessions with tons of practice intake calls from the precincts. They were damn serious about getting this right. There was a set procedure for answering and repeating to make sure the numbers and districts were correct. There was no one in that room who did anything but take the project seriously.

The same Blackwell that tried to illegally stop Ohio people from voting because of the 80lb paper.

http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Feb04/Fitrakis0226.htm

If Ohio’s Republican Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell has his way, Diebold will receive a contract to supply touch screen electronic voting machines for much of the state. None of these Diebold machines will provide a paper receipt of the vote.

Diebold, located in North Canton, Ohio, does its primary business in ATM and ticket-vending machines. Critics of Diebold point out that virtually every other machine the company makes provides a paper trail to verify the machine’s calculations. Oddly, only the voting machines lack this essential function.

57. E-Voting machines violate Voting Rights Act
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/April2004/Landes0406.htm

When voting machines are used, critical parts of the Voting Rights Act can't be enforced. Under Section 8 of the Voting Rights Act, 42 U.S.Code §1973f, Federal Observers are authorized to observe" . . . whether persons who are entitled to vote are being permitted to vote ...(and) whether votes cast by persons entitled to vote are being properly tabulated..."

Under "Prohibited acts" in §1973i, the "Failure or refusal to permit casting or tabulation of vote" . . . can result in civil and criminal penalties. "No person acting under color of law shall fail or refuse to permit any person to vote who is entitled to vote...(and) Whoever...knowingly and willfully falsifies or conceals a material fact... shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five year, or both."

Voting machines violate those provisions. Vote casting and tabulation take place inside of a box. Federal Observers can't observe "... whether persons who are entitled to vote are being permitted to vote . . . (and) whether votes cast . . . are being properly tabulated.." Voting machines by their very design "conceals a material fact."

58. SAIC is a behemoth military defense contractor
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Articles7/Landes_SAIC-VoteHere-Diebold.htm

SAIC is a behemoth military defense contractor with a shadowy, if not tarnished, reputation, while former SAIC executives also have ties to VoteHere. Why is that important? VoteHere is a growing company, which aspires to provide cryptography and computer software security for the electronic election industry.

Another former SAIC board member, also on the board of VoteHere, is ex-CIA director Robert Gates, a veteran of the Iran/Contra scandal.

VoteHere is already benefiting from the Diebold debacle, as it will be partnering with Sequoia Voting Systems, "to provide a new level of electronic ballot verification to customers of the AVC Edge touch screen voting system," according to the VoteHere website.

SAIC, which is supposed to vet Diebold's elections software, is itself in the elections business.

On a webpage of Diversified Dynamics (recently purchased by Northrop Grumman), a 1998 legal notice states, "Diversified Dynamics has brought the election process to the technological level of the new millennium by designing the world's most advanced electronic vote recording and election management system. We were supported in this effort by the engineering and software capabilities of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a world leader in systems development and integration."

All of the above companies are military defense contractors as well as information technology (IT) firms, whose clients include state governments and federal agencies.

101. SAME COUNTIES FRAUD 2000/2004 PROOF OF FRAUD
http://www.blackboxvoting.org/bbv_chapter-13.pdf

Volusia County, Florida:
John Ellis, hired as an analyst for Fox TV News, knew exactly
the margin needed to call the 2000 presidential race for George W.
Bush. He was privy to the Voter News Service data, and he spoke
several times during the evening to his two cousins: Jeb and George
W. Bush.
At 2:09 a.m., the required vote margin appeared from Volusia
County, Florida. At 2:10 a.m., this margin was enhanced by a 4,000-
vote bump in Brevard County, and at 2:16 a.m., Ellis called the race
for George W. Bush. Within four minutes, NBC, CBS and ABC
followed suit. 5
Precisely the right margin appeared on a Volusia County machine
(Global Election Systems, now Diebold), amplified by a Diebold/
Global Election Systems machine in Brevard County. Unfortunately,
these vote totals were incorrect and soon disappeared, along with a
“card no. 3” which helped to create them.
If Al Gore had publicly conceded on election night, would we ever
have learned that these votes were bogus? Would there have been a
recount, and could the “Help America Vote Act” have passed, triggering
the rush to touch-screen machines?
We’ll never know, but thanks to an internal CBS report and a memo
written by Talbot Iredale, vice president of research and development
at Diebold Election Systems, we now know that the unexplained
replacement of a set of votes on a Diebold optical-scan machine in Volusia
County triggered a premature private concession from Al Gore to George
W. Bush and resulted in TV networks’ erroneously calling the election
for Bush instead of deeming it too close to call. The final “offical”
tally showed Gore losing by 527 votes, though the hand recount stopped
by the Supreme Court later gave the election to Gore.
Fox News Network, 29 November 2000: Brit Hume, host: “ ... It seems a
broken computer modem and a faulty memory card were culprits in the
erroneous election-night call of George W. Bush as the Florida winner ...
computers with a bad memory card caused it to appear for a time that Al
Gore had lost more than 16,000 votes, which seemed to put George W.
Bush up by 50,000 — at that stage in the night, an insurmountable margin.
Every network saw that as a basis for calling the state for Mr. Bush. ... ”

60. Colonel Richard Prouty

Johns Hopkins University Professor Aviel D. Rubin has become a leading opponent against high-tech voting systems. Rubin published the first in-depth security analysis of Diebold's touch-screen voting software.

"He studied 49,000 lines of leaded code from Diebold...and found it contained incorrect use of cryptography and bad software engineering," the Collin County Democrats' release states.

69. Really Look at the Data, Florida results just don't add up!
Posted at commongroundcommonsense online forum by livvy

http://commongroundcommonsense.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=700

I've been doing some browsing through the posts here today, going to links, etc. One of the links led me to this site: http://ustogether.org/Florida_Election.htm

The data is at first glance unimpressive. It looks just like so much of the data of county/state results I've looked at, but look closer, and really study it. There has to be much more data like this out there. I would suggest when we find data like this, we point out the inconsistencies and send it to our Representatives in Congress, particularly the three that drafted this letter:
http://www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/gaoinvestvote2004ltr11504.pdf which I picked up from this thread today:
http://commongroundcommonsense.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=53&pid=5564&st=220&#entry5564
It's a pdf file which took a while to load on my computer.

Check out this data!
On this chart be sure to read the explanation below the charts, before trying to make sense of the data. Then really look at the expected votes vs the actual votes in the op-scan chart. There are some cases where the numbers are almost flipped, and many where the actual vs the expected votes are doubled/tripled/or more for the Rep. and reduced for the Dems (see Holmes, Putnam, Suwannee, and Union Counties for some examples). This does not make sense at all considering what the pre-election polls for Florida were showing. Could that many Dems in Florida suddenly have had a fit of the "lazies" on election day, and just not voted? Doesn't seem very likely to me.

70. Palm Beach County Logs 88,000, More Votes Than Voters
http://www.washingtondispatch.com/spectrum/archives/000715.html

According to the official election results posted on the Palm Beach County election website, 542,835 ballots were cast for a presidential candidate while only 454,427 voters turned out for the election (including absentee). This leaves a discrepancy of 88,408 votes cast for the presidential candidates.

Palm Beach County's supervisor of elections is Theresa LePore who is known for the 2000 Presidential Election and the notorious "butterfly ballot" that caused confusion among seniors and other Floridians.

Other election oddities occurred throughout Florida with some counties registering a 400% increase in expected voter turnout among Republicans while Democrats supposedly experienced a -60% decline in expected support within certain counties.

Update: Palm Beach County has updated their numbers and added 91,802 absentee ballots and 1,041 provisional ballots. The vote totals for president increased by 1,543. To view an archived copy of the previous report, click here. While Palm Beach County appears to have accounted for the discrepancy, this underscores the flaws in the system and data compilation

DU INFO ALERT: Why Recounting in New Hampshire Could Save Democracy

Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 07:58 AM by IdaBriggs
Earlier this week I did an analysis of the New Hampshire voting data comparing 2000 to 2004 because of work posted by Faun Otter here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph... .

The results are posted here: www.invisibleida.com/New_Hampshire.htm

The biggest non-trend anomalies occur where AccuVote (Diebold) machines are used. The only way to verify what the heck is going on is to compare the RAW DATA with the REPORTED DATA and New Hampshire has a paper trail.

So I started begging/nagging for a New Hampshire recount. The problem was that only a candidate could request it. Bush wouldn't, I couldn't get a hold of Kerry despite playing Kevin Bacon for two days, and so I BEGGED Ralph Nader (ON EDIT: through his campaign team) to do it instead, and he is doing it.

I believe this is going to help heal the nation -- either there is fraud (intentional or otherwise), and it will be uncovered, or there isn't, and we need to cope. If New Hampshire shows fraud, then we move on to the next state, and the next, and the next...hopefully, before the Electoral College meets in December!

You can read some of the threads I've posted about this in greater detail over in the "Presidential" board. I'm sorry, but I've been working my tuckus off (and I've been sick with bronchitis), so I haven't been doing my part to keep folks updated. I'll try to do better.

Meanwhile, we're going to need some more volunteers on Monday to make phone calls to the states for recount qualifications. (I think the team doing that has 12 (ON EDIT: states, not people) so far!) Also, there is going to be "running different places with paperwork" requirements (this was almost our undoing on Friday!), as well as a whole bunch of other stuff that I'm sure will pop up unexpectedly. If you want to help with this effort, speak up!

TWO THINGS YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW:

1) Read this thread so you know what's going on (and keep it kicked, please) -- http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

2) and then then THIS thread (kick again) AND E-MAIL THE RALPH NADER STUFF TO EVERYONE like I asked (but please delete my excited commentary at the top and keep it private to DU, okay?) -- http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

I'll try to do better at keeping folks informed. For those who care, I can tell you straight out -- this whole thing started because of DU -- and the people who have helped out -- NBI, BBV, AND MORE -- deserve the thanks of this nation.

Its not over, people. Its only JUST BEGUN.

ON EDIT: If you don't read the thread links before making (negative) judgments, please don't bother responding. I've got too much work to do wasting my time on people who WANT to stay uninformed when the data is easily available. Also, if you don't think it will work, that's fine; everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and I've still got a lot of work to do.

All current fraud indicators combined into one big thread.

If this isn't enough to get it out, I have no idea what will do it. More stuff is coming in every few hours, too.

The first thing I'm going to point out is that the media is claiming the pollsters all got it "way wrong", especially the exit pollers, and in states Kerry was projected the clear winner by the exit polls, Bush won, often by a clear margin.

This is a lie. The exit polls were ONLY way off in states with electronic and optical scan voting. States with paper ballots were just fine, and the exit polls were almost never off more than 1 or 2 percent. This graph will help, taken from official election statistics and AP exit polls:

Next, here are some basic Florida election calcs, provided with sources at the bottom:

http://ustogether.org/Florida_Election.htm

In order to believe that these numbers are legit you have to believe that in Calhoun county, just as one example, which has 11.9% registered Republicans and 82.4% registered Democrats, voted in favor of Bush 3,780 to Kerry's 2,116.

To put that number more clearly for you, those numbers assume that even if every single one of the 994 registered Republicans (based on the 11.9 percent number) turned out AND voted for Bush (100 percent party loyalty and 100 percent turnout rate), 2,786 democrats crossed party lines and voted for Bush, and considering John Kerry only got 2,116 votes, that means he only got 43.2 percent of the Democratic vote. FOURTY THREE PERCENT. And that means the other 57 percent voted for Bush (minus 0.5 for Nader/Others). Do any of you buy all that? Also, while some of these counties did go to Bush in 2000 despite a heavy democrat registration favourability, they didn't go to him by NEARLY the numbers he got this year. Also, places where Dem registration was way up, like Miami-Dade county, Kerry didn't win by much. Somehow Bush managed to get tons of new voters from areas his registration didn't go up much in. Hmm?

Now, I know Independents are left out of this graph, but lets give George Bush the benefit of the doubt and assume that he carried the Independent chunk of the vote (20 percent or so at most) by 100 percent, EVERY SINGLE VOTE. In the county we just talked about that STILL would not get him NEARLY the vote he got, and that would mean Democrats turned out at about 35 percent to vote for Kerry. NOT. POSSIBLE.

Now here are a few media articles beginning to trickle out commenting on voting 'irregularities' -- Notice how these nearly always favour Bush, and these are only the ones we know about.

Broward County (HEAVILY democratic county in FL) machines count backwards:

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/politics/cont...WVOTE_1105...

638 Voters total in county, Bush got 4,258 (Ohio, of course!)

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/11/05/...s.ap/index...

Palm Beach county FL somehow has 88k 'extra' votes to account for

http://www.washingtondispatch.com/spectrum...ves/000715...

European commentary on some of the graphs from my earlier post, and other things. If you think WE don't believe in our system, imagine how these people are seeing this.

http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=4175

*** This last bit was taken from TRUTHISALL's post, sorry I cleaned up the wording a little bit to make it more clear and less inflammatory. Also the summary is partly mine. ***

Exit poll numbers compared with final vote tally numbers:

These are PAPER BALLOT states:
AZ LA MI IA NM ME NV AR MO IL

HERE ARE THE EXIT POLL AVERAGES FOR THESE STATES:
Exit poll
.....Kerry Bush
2pm 48.50 50.50
4pm 48.70 50.20
Final vote: Kerry 48.50, Bush 50.70

Not much change, right?
The EXIT POLLS did just fine, right?

Now check this out.

These are the NON-PAPER BALLOT states:
PA OH FL MN NC CO

HERE ARE THE EXIT POLL AVERAGES FOR THESE STATES:
Exit poll
.....Kerry Bush
2pm 53.50 45.88
4pm 51.50 47.63

Final: Kerry 48.38 Bush 50.75. The numbers get turned around for Bush. In fact, they look just like the final 51-48 result.

What happened here? Bush was losing in these very critical states, but then the EXIT POLLS started to change, unlike those in the paper ballot states in which the exit poll percentages held constant and were EXTREMELY ACCURATE until the polls closed.

Explain this, if you can: ONLY states without paper ballots suddenly started to move from Kerry to Bush.

Stumped? I'm not, but then, I'm not afraid to use the F word.

It's OK. You can say the "F" word: Fraud. Documents begin tonight

Unless we are hacked out again, we will begin releasing documents this evening. It will be drip drip drip, not a knockout punch.

Heh.

Heh heh.

I hadn't heard this in the news (but what do you expect from the media?)Nader as a candidate is the only one who can request a recount. He made the 5pm deadline but will have to go to court about the check.

I don't understand those on DU who don't want to see if we can prove Fraud. Maybe that secret meeting with Kerry was about doing this.

Please support this. Ralph may need money. If we win this one it sets a precedent for checking the computers in every other state.

Board awaits state followup
By ERIN MILLER

WAPAKONETA -- Auglaize County Board of Election members say they have not heard any more from the state regarding a possible investigation after receiving notice of being placed on administrative oversight last week.

(snip)

In a letter dated Oct. 21, Ken Nuss, former deputy director of the Auglaize County Board of Elections, claimed that Joe McGinnis, a former employee of Election Systems and Software (ES&S), the company that provides the voting system in Auglaize County, was on the main computer that is used to create the ballot and compile election results, which would go against election protocol. Nuss claimed in the letter that McGinnis was allowed to use the computer the weekend of Oct. 16.

Nuss, who resigned from his job Oct. 21 after being suspended for a day, was responsible for overseeing the computerized programming of election software, according to his job description. His resignation is effective Nov. 11.
(snip)
****************************
This is a county where I *thought* they had stopped the purchase of the machines, otherwise I would have considered being a plaintiff -- so I did check. Surprised to find an ES&S machine waiting to eat my vote. All the precincts (St. Marys) I watched the next day had ES&S as well -- one was a bellweather precinct that had been manipulated shortly before the election (3 precincts merged to 2 -- all low income -- and polling place merged with another 6 precincts). Maybe screwed with Kerry's projected numbers?

Plenty of other weirdness here as well -- the BOE moved prior to last November, but all their info on their own web site and all local directories still list at the old address and phone -- no signs at old address (perhaps so only those who paid attention to local Wapak news would know where to go?) When I complained about that, this BOE Director was extremely defensive.

Also, our local Dem Chair endorsed w, was forced to resign, and we only got an HQ 2 weeks before the election -- they knew this county was gonna go under the radar...

Sent the article to BBV crew and posted in the Auglaize County Forum on BBV-- Any other ideas what I should do with this?

My polling place was DESIGNED to screw with people just as much as any urban center, and I really wonder about why that was -- emailed and spoke with other rural area voters, no lines, no problems (so far).

Here we Go, Florida Democrat Goes to the FBI

The Democratic contender for US House of Representatives in Florida's 16th disctrict, Jeff Fisher, has gone to the FBI, claiming conclusive proof of the hacking of the 2004 and 2002 elections. Things are moving, people, don't stop putting the pressure on the media and our reps:

Dave Pentecost is one of a number of volunteer filmmakers who worked with Michael Moore to document election day conditions at polling sites throughout Ohio. Background on the project in a previous BoingBoing post: Link.

Dave sends BoingBoing this short movie comprised of excerpts from footage they captured on November 2, 2004. Much of it was apparently edited on laptops in the back of a bus. He says:

"Our thanks to People for the American Way and Election Protection. My apologies to the Jayhawks for not clearing the music first. (I'm still waiting to hear back, their rights person is in transit, I'll do it next week). The decision to go ahead was mine. This was shot by a dedicated group of 20 volunteer filmmakers, but any faults in the editing or focus of this video are my responsibility. The organizers of the trip will release a longer selection of statements by voters who had problems voting."

Voting Problems in Ohio Set Off an Alarm

Voters in Ohio delivered a second term to President Bush by a decisive margin. But the way the vote was conducted there, election law specialists say, exposed a number of weak spots in the nation's election system.

"We dodged a bullet this time, but the problems remain," said Heather K. Gerken, who teaches election law at Harvard. "We have problems with the machines, problems with the patchwork of regulations covering everything from recounts to provisional ballots, and problems with self-interested party officials deciding which votes count."

Had the electoral math been only a little different, lawyers would be examining even closer finishes in other states.

In Duval Co. Fl 219,251 votes for Bush, only 190,111 registered Republican

I've been reviewing numbers for the past few days, and this one struck me as a little odd.

Duval County in Florida was the scene for a lot of accusations in the 2000 vote, mostly for voter suppression. So it certainly deserves some scrutiny. Add to that the County Supervisor for Elections resigned suddenly for health reasons just prior to the 2004 elections. Duval County is considered to be Republican country, however the voter registration numbers do not bear that out. Here are the numbers for 2000 and 2004.

Republican

2000 Regs....152,008...36%
2004 Regs....190,111...41%

2000 Votes...152,098...58% / 98 more votes than registered Republican.
2004 Votes...219,251...45% / 29,140 more votes than registered Rep.

Democrat

2000 Regs....211,762...50%
2004 Regs....238,264...46%

2000 Vote....107,864...41%...Only 51% of Reg Dem count.
2004 Vote....158,121...42%...66% of Reg Dem count.

I know there are crossover voters, but the total turnout for Duval was 74% of registered voters. Republicans get 115% of their registration, while Dems get 66%. Doesn't seem right to me. But someone with a little more political statistics savvy should take a look.

Couple of other issues jumped out at me all in Florida:

Highlands County had 7,495 more votes than turnout.
Collier County had 943 more votes than turnout.
Miami-Dade had 51,979 more votes than turnout.
Palm Beach had 90,774 more votes than turnout.
Osceola had 18,589 more votes than turnout.
Volusia had 19,306 more votes than turnout.

At first I thought these may be absentee, but that seems a little high.

Escambia County had 18,193 fewer votes than voters.
Lee County had 1,001 fewer votes than voters.

These numbers may mean nothing, and may be normal for any general election. However I don't have the expertise to say whether these aberrations are normal or not.

I've put together several Excel spreadsheets for the Florida vote:

1.) 2004 Presidential Results, total vote/voter turnout by county, also showing which type of equipment was used.

2.) Voter Registration for 2000 & 2004, by Republicans/Democrats by county.

3.) Presidential Results, by county, Republican/Democrat 2000 & 2004.

Don't know how to upload or post but if anybody is interested, let me know.

According to Florida voter data this election was stolen. PERIOD

Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 02:30 PM by Caution
of the 36 counties which have a majority of registered Democrats only 8 of them voted Kerry. 28 went Bush. Not a single county with a majority of Republican regsitrations went Kerry. The numbers are staggering. When you look at voter registrations in the various Florida counties and then look at the "actual" results, there is simply NO WAY that something didnt go wrong.

Just one example:
Calhoun County - 8,350 registered voters
82.4% of whom are registered as Democrats. (6,880)
11.9% of whom are registered as Republicans (933)

Actual results?
Kerry - 2,116
Bush - 3,780

And this wasnt even the most egregious example.

I find it VERY hard to believe that assuming 100% repub turnout that 41% of the registered Democrats in Calhoun county voted Bush.

In op-scan counties, 108,340 more ballots were case Republican than there were registered republican voters.

Adjusted based on the voter turnout, 612,971 non-republicans voted for Bush in these counties.

so that's 41% of the democrats voted Bush.

And notice that the 41% of total dems voted Bush across the state is exactly the same percentage in Calhoun county alone.

This is FUCKED.

Then again, on reflection, given the conversations I've had with scores of depressed Dems, I guess I'm not all that surprised. Just disappointed I guess. It will probably pick up as the coverage increases, but it won't increase unless we blast the info to our media outlets . . .

On the same note I am hoping someone from the Kerry campaign sees it and passes all of it on.

And...........

If they don't make a move, I am finished, I am done being an advocate. The BBV effort to inform congressmen and senators and media has been huge. THEY KNOW, if they don't do anything about it now, then I will conclude THEY ARE IN ON IT.

The state Board of Elections, motto: "We generally pooh-pooh boo-boos large, small and in-between," issued an uncharacteristically stern order Friday. They did so to a previously little-known California company by the name of UniLect Corp. This is what the order said:

One, in particular, started to ricochet around the Internet even before John Kerry conceded the election to President Bush and it blamed alleged tampering with electronic voting machines for Kerry's defeat.

PREDICTIONS THAT touch-screen voting machines would enable massive fraud on Election Day seem to have gone the way of Y2K. Still, watchdog groups are continuing to report machine failures, including screen malfunctions that voters said hindered attempts to record their choices accurately. That is the haunting question still not addressed in most states using touch-screens: Without any paper records of how votes were cast, who will ever know how accurate the machine tallies were?

Nader requests N.H. vote recount

By KEVIN LANDRIGAN, Telegraph Staff
landrigank@telegraph-nh.com

Published: Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004

CONCORD - Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader requested a hand recount of ballots in New Hampshire after getting seven-tenths of 1 percent of the vote.

>>>>Nader’s recount request came in as a fax at 4:59 p.m., one minute before the deadline.

The application is not legal, however, because it did not come with payment, according to Assistant Attorney General Bud Fitch.

“At this point, we aren’t considering it to be a valid request,’’ he said.

Anyone who loses by more than 1 percent of the vote has to pay for a recount, he said, noting the cost statewide could be $80,000.

Nader can appeal that decision to the state Ballot Law Commission.

60 meet at UW, plan next steps

By Bill Dunn
November 8, 2004

American democracy: a shining city on a hill or gutter politics that steals votes and suppresses voter intent?

To about 60 people who gathered Saturday at the UW Humanities Building, it's more like the latter.

Sue West of Rockford, Ill., saw notice of the "No Stolen Elections" meeting on the Madison Area Peace Coalition's Web site. The meeting followed an anti-war rally that attracted 500 to 600 people to State Street and the Capitol.

"I think we need to protest this election no matter what Kerry does," said West, originally a Dennis Kucinich supporter. "I think it's fraud, pure and simple." <snip>

<a href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=9&k=new%20yo... " illegal code"window.status='NEW YORK'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">NEW YORK</a> - Here's an interesting little sidebar of our system of government confirmed recently by the crack Countdown research staff: no Presidential candidate's concession speech is legally binding. The only determinants of the outcome of election are the reports of the state returns boards and the vote of the Electoral College.

That's right. Richard Nixon may have phoned John Kennedy in November, 1960, and congratulated him through clenched teeth. But if the FBI had burst into Kennedy headquarters in Chicago a week later and walked out with all the <a href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=9&k=file%20c... " illegal code"window.status='file cabinets'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">file cabinets</a> and a bunch of employees with their raincoats drawn up over their heads, nothing Nixon had said would've prevented him, and not JFK, from taking the oath of office the following January.

This is mentioned because there is a small but blood-curdling set of news stories that right now exists somewhere between the world of investigative journalism, and the world of the Reynolds Wrap Hat. And while the group's ultimate home remains unclear - so might our election of just a week ago.
