better.

I think it's important for everyone to realize that. I can't say the same thing about the last six weeks (or any six weeks) of the Gore campaign.

Kerry's problem had nothing to do with campaign strategy. He did everything right in the last six weeks.

That the Republicans got the religious right to show up at the polls after years of not showing up was not Kerry's fault. Voter disenfranchisement was not Kerry's fault.

Just felt I needed to say that.

and agree with it.

I hope Democrats will pay attention.

2. There was no way in hell we could win
after 9/11. Even if we ran Jesus Christ.

There was a way, and Kerry got extremely close to it.

3. they needed the anti gay laws on the ballots to get out the vote
because if people were thinking about the issues that mattered Bush could not win, especially after the debates.

5. That's what this was a battle over. Foregrounding your strong issues in
peoples' minds and underminining the other side's issues.

Kerry did enough to turn war into a negative and then foreground jobs and opportunity. But Bush got people thinking about terror and the bedroom.

4. I agree!
People were pumped up - volunteers were working around the clock because they were hearing from the Kerry ticket important issues that mattered.

Jesus Christ would have lost this election with the Karl Rove attack and smear campaign. Kerry won this, the BFEE had the e-voting and hacks lined up in the right places, we didn't have a chance.

6. I agree with you

Once it found its footing the Kerry Campaign was far superior to the Gore campaign of 2000.

We almost broke through the 9/11 Bush spin, but not quite. And the revealing thing is that we did break through to folks who were in cities that actually were attacked.

Some people feel the need to have a martyr complex where fear outshines hope within themselves.

7. I agree and I also see a movement to
make us think that all Democrats have the wrong idea about who and what to embrace. It is not our position on civil rights or any other problem we try to fix. The media and the spin doctors try and lead us astray. The other side just had lies and the religious fanatics who believed them and most importantly, electronic voting.

8. I agree, I thought Kerry hit his stride by the end of September
He had a clear message: Iraq/Bin-Laden not Saddam and he generated great crowds. The result was 56 million votes--the second biggest tally in history. Who knows maybe if we had a few more days (electin day was early this year) Kerry could have won?

9. Yes, Kerry did a fine job, but so did ...
his supporters. The Democrats were fired up. I traveled in Maryland, West Virginia, Texas and New Mexico before the election and Kerry signs and bumper stickers outnumbered Bush's everywhere I went. If we can maintain this passion we should be able to take back quite a few seats in Congress in 2006.
