Mark Warner '08 People Check In Here
I'm certain that Warner will be running for President in 2008. He hasn't been spending a fair amount of time in Iowa and New Hampshire assessing corn and dairy production, if you catch my drift.

Warner is eaxctly what the party needs, a young telegenic, Southern governor who has a proven track record with rural voters and knows how to pull our country out of the financial mess its in.

We need to begin planning now for 2008, so lets get started.

1. I hope he runs for president. Forget VA senate
He knows he can win if he runs for President. VA is one of those Southern States that can in fact go either way. It's not terribly red like are some states deeper to the South.

6. I think we can start by talking up the guy at party meetings
and to Democrats we know, that's a good start for now.

16. Yep. Let's get the buzz started. Buy doing so this early in the game..
we can let the other would be candidates with no shot of prevailing know who will get the lions share of the blogosphere support. I'm not advocating that we should all absolutely lock into only Warner. I just want other potential contenders to know that unless they have consensus support they should not be jumping in simply to massage their egos.

7. The only southerner I would support
Outside of Edwards. And I would support him not because he is a southerner, but because I live in Virginia and I know what a good governor he has been...especially in the face of an overwhelmingly Republican legislature.

11. Yeah, that was a good close
And he didn't cringe in the usual Democratic fashion when he said "values".

I think he could use a little more "grittiness", but maybe that's just me.

10. I've talked to others that think he's the guy too
I fully will support him, but we need to find out what he's done in the past (ie, does he have skeletons in the closet). Also, what kind of campaigner and speaker is he? I think it should be Warner/Clark or Warner/Richardson or Easley/Richardson Easley/Clark.

What else has Mr. Warner accomplished?

What is his favorability in Virginia?

14. I believe
he grew up poor and made a bunch of money after starting his own business. He was chair of the Democratic Party in Virginia and then challenged John Warner for Senate. He barely lost in what would have been a huge upset. He then ran for Governor. He reached out to the Rural communities as well as NOVA. As Governor, he completely reformed the tax system to have revenue to pay for schools and roads--the biggest state expenditures. He did this in a way that had the Republicans attacking each other instead of him. He's a good speaker, not dynamic.

Now if he can just hang out with Wes Clark for a while to learn about national security.. we could be looking at our next nominee..
