Letter to all red state residents
I know that people from NY, Illinois, CA, MA, MI etc... have been relentlessly giving it to the red states. But, i want everyone to know that even though those red states went for Bush, we still have friends there and they are hurting as much as we are. I know its all venting right now, but let's not forget our friends in the red states. As someone who lives in a giant blue bubble here in Chicago, I cannot fathom ever living in the red, so Kudos to all of you red-states.

C'mon y'all from the blue, let's give our LUVE.

2. We tried, here in Ohio.
Really. The only urban county in Ohio that didn't go for Kerry was Hamilton, and people in Cincinnati get hammered relentlessly with hate radio and two conservative daily newspapers, plus the conservative suburban weeklies. It's tough being a Dem in Cincinnati -- I grew up not far from there, believe me, I know.

My county went Dem, and activists in the area got a couple of Dems elected at the local level. The ones who lost, locally, didn't lose as badly as expected -- they put the fear of replacement in the Republican incumbents.

Not only that, but Ohio is one of the 'red' states that doesn't suck at the teat of blue states. We don't take more than we give here, either, which is something you don't hear come up in these discussions of how 'all red states are welfare states.'

3. I've lived in the South all my life.
And I have no problem with you collectively characterizing us as slack-jawed, bible-thumpin', sister-humpin' yokels. We damn well deserve it..

You won't hear any crying from me when the Bush policy chickens come home to roost.

5. there must be a solution
Is there anyway we can get progressive or even non-politically affiliated literary works in forms of books, newspapers, or magazines in those "hard-to-be-a-democrat-and-think-indepedently-states," so all of you can have better sources of information.
