James Dobson issues fatwa against Pat Leahy
"Patrick Leahy is a 'God's people' hater...I don't know if he hates God, but he hates God's people." James Dobson, The Daily Oklahoman, Oct. 23, 2004

Steph - "Dr. Dobson, that doesn't sound like a particularly Christian thing to say, do you think you owe Senator Leahy and apology?"

Dobson - "George, do you think you ought to lecture me on what a Christian is all about? You know, I think I will stand by the things I have said. Patrick Leahy has been in opposition to most of the things I believe. He is the one that took the reference to God out of the vote..."

Steph - "But excuse me Dr. Dobson, you used the word hate. You said that he is a God's people hater. How do you back that up?"

Dobson - "There has been an awful lot of hate expressed in this election and most of it has been aimed at those who hold to conservative Christian views. He is certainly not the only one to take a position like that, but that is where he is coming from. He has certainly opposed most of the things that conservative Christians stand for.

1. If Dobson is Christian
then Christianity is the enemy of reason and must be destroyed.

22. Of course; we need to start calling them that.
Of course, absolutely.

I'd love to see them answer to that charge.

6. Interesting when you highlight certain things.
"George, do you think you ought to lecture me on what a Christian is all about? You know, I think I will stand by the things I have said. Patrick Leahy has been in opposition to most of the things I believe."

So he's the standard of what a Christian is all about? Is that it?

9. Dobson is a rich opportunist, with an empire
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 12:08 PM by Touchdown
He's no christian. Look at just one pic of his HQ...it's bit so it might be reduced to a link.

They have their own green exit sign on I-25 in Colorado Springs.

He's behind the "Love Won Out" brainwashing campaign...

Here's the "hubby" as "Candi"...

His is the main monetary support for The Promisekeepers. You know the ministry of men that apologize for not being mysoginists.

He has an empire that dwarfs that of Robertson and Falwell, yet he strangely keep a relatively low profile compared to the other two...because he's busy taking over the nation.

Dobson's Focus on the Family is a Monster. If they (and all their employees, and congregations) were to leave town, Colorado would instantly turn blue. Thing is...they came here from Oklahoma.:grr:

10. Link, please?
By the way, I'd like to tell Dobson that the Republican National Convention and the average Bush rally were both orgies of hatred and derision and mendacity -- hardly the fruits of the spirit.

13. also spoke menacingly about Arlen Specter
kept calling him a "problem", talking about him like something to be destroyed, like a cancer.

This Dobson fellow, he might be an opportunity for us. I have to believe only a tiny minority wouldn't be repulsed by him, if we succeed in making him the face of the GOP they're toast. If I'm wrong about this, I don't know what to think about Americans.

Pharisees were from Jesus' generation. They're a new breed of fake Xtians; hence, the term "neo-Pharisees."

16. I watched him this am and literally became nauseated.. he and his
minions feed on their own; he was actually attacking Arlen Specter
(definitly one of "them") simply because he made the common-sense statement that any nut-bag, anti-choice judges Bush nominated would have a hard time winning confirmation...now they're out for his blood.
How christ-like!

18. That interview made my blood run cold
Dobson is a frightening man - cloaking his backwards, fasicst agenda in the guise of a morality he wants to enforce on us all.

He is not a Christian. He is a fascist. He has no life in his eyes.

33. Leahy is a good Catholic Christian
because he cares about people, wants them to have health care, living wages, education, etc. Real Christians care about that stuff.

Dobson and other extremist "Christians" tend to spew hatred for some of God's children if they don't agree with some narrow-minded bullshit view of what a Christian is. These extremists tend to exclude people, and don't give a shit about the quality of people's lives, health care, living wages, education, and so on. Kind of like the pro-lifers who support the death penalty, poverty, and war.
