1. i'd love it
but he doesn't have a position. It would be hard to run in 2008 when his last stint in public office ended in 2002

2. Mmmm....good point...
i'm thinking in terms of 2 years, instead of in terms of 8.

When does Georgia's governorship come due again? Maybe we can convince him to do soemthing in the mid-terms......

24. the election for Gov is in 2006
I'd like to see him run for Governor.
But after what they did to him last time, when he was running for re-election, I don't know if he'd want too.

But I'd back him, if he wanted to.

5. this is true....
i thinkt he only thing that would really work against him is telegenics.

But he's Southern, he's a good good man, he's a veteran, and he's an honest to goodness democrat.

they would try to turn his kindness into a character flaw tho.

7. please don't put the good man
through that.......when he campaigned for Kerry the right was ripping him and saying he blew himself up.........as with Kerry.a Nam vet and they tore the shit out of him.....because he told the truth about Nam.

When the men or women get back from Iraq and if ever run for office they will only be elected on their "war" experience if a RRRRRRRRRRRR
is behind their name.....

15. I was talking about running a horrible campaign. What has that
got to do with Vietnam? People running for president are typically 'hot' politicians not politicians that lost their last election.:eyes:

if you're not fully aware of the facts surround his last campaign, and it's apparent you're not, you might want to refrain from speaking your piece.

and adding the smiley faces too.

thanks for playing.

14. What @ fighting FRAUD in '04
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 11:24 AM by goclark

Max or anyone else will not get any where unless we clean this crap up now!

IMO we are in dream land thinking about a candidate now.

According to CNN, the only candidate that we could support in '08 would be a democratic Jerry Farwell.

I refuse to dream when the dream is being deferred for FREE and FAIR elections.

That is our first priority.

16. They'd do the same thing to Cleland that they did to Kerry re: Viet Nam
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 03:30 PM by deadparrot
They'd rip him apart, and the sheeple would eat it up.

These people are evil. They don't care about whether or not your limbs got blown off.

I'd be willing to bet that most Americans don't know who Max Cleland is, much less his war story. IMO, there will be plenty of people around to drink the kool aid.

22. True enough....
well except those who saw Max with Kerry, altho i guess those are the choir in any case.

hence inoculating him or any other candidate with an ad laying out the dirty kicks to watch out for as soon as the campaign starts.

21. *lol* I keep saying we need to
inoculate against that stuff as soon as any campaign gets on it's legs.

A PAC basically throwing ads out there saying, "they'll lie, they'll smear, they'll do anythign they can to discredit. Don't fall for the lies! stay vigilant."

jsut to start messing with their tried and true system.

He's a good man, but I'm not sure that he would make a great candidate.

26. I'd vote for him:
He's a constant reminder of how great a person can be. He sacraficed so much for this country, but he came back and spent a career working to make it better.

The 2002 election will forever be a reminder to me of how pathetic the other side can be. It will also be a reminder to me that the other side, no matter how often they use the term, truly lacks compassion and understanding of this great country.

Cleland would be a great President. I'd vote for him.

28. Cleland running again and WINNING in GA could well prove
that Dems can win again. If you look at it another way, he's been down this path once, and lost. The fight wasn't fair in any way, shape, or form. I am sure reasonable people (and yeah, they do exist, even in GA)would want to see the wrong of the last election righted, given a second chance.

If Cleland has the stomach for the fight again (and I can NOT hold him in bad stead if he doesn't) I think he could actually turn it around and win.

Mind you, I am not in GA and am unfamiliar with local/state GA politics. My comments here are simply based on my own assessment of human nature.
