Casualty report for Nov 1-7. Please forward to your local papers
Please forward this to your local papers and news stations. I will post the casualty counts every week and we can forward them to the press. I believe that the war will hit much closer to home if we can get news sources to start listing names and ages of the young men and women killed in Bush's war for oil.

Coalition casualties for the week of November 1-7, 2004.

13 coalition soldiers lost their lives this week in President Bush's invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq.

US forces casualties are:

US Specialist Brian K. Baker, 27, of West Seneca, NY
US Corporal Jeremiah A. Baro, 21, of Fresno, CA
US Sergeant Carlos M. Camacho-Rivera, 24, of Carolina, PR
US Lance Corporal Jared P. Hubbard, 22, of Clovis, CA
US Lance Corporal Sean M. Langley, 20, of Lexington, KY
US Sergeant Charles Joseph Webb, 22, of Hamilton, OH
US Specialist Cody L. Wentz, 21, of Williston, ND
US Private Justin R. Yoemans, 20, of Eufaula, AL

The identity of one American casualty has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

British casualties are:

UK Sergeant Stuart Robert Gray
UK Private Paul Aitken Lowe
UK Private Scott William McArdle

Three civilian contract workers were also killed during the first week of November.

Five of the casualties were the result of car bomb attacks and two soldiers were killed by improvised explosive devices.

Five of the casualties occurred in or around Baghdad, three casualties occurred near Falujah, four occurred in Al Anbar Province and one soldier died near Balad.

1. don't most papers already do it ?
the only newspaper i read is la times and i don't even do that regularly as i go online a lot now. but i think la times does this, although it might just be for those killed in state or locally.

our local tv stations usually report also if they are from the area or state.

2. No, they don't.
The deaths are usually buried somewhere in the various relevant stories. Locals do get more attention.

3. The ones around here just carry local casualties or a total count
I think psychologically, it's more effective if people see names and ages associated with the people that died. If you hear a soldier was killed you can picture anything you want in your mind. If you hear that they are 18 or 19 or 20 years old, then you are forced to realize that it's young people dying, not 40-50 year old men like Mel Gibson or Bruce Willis, which is the Hollywood image of soldiers. It's not the grizzled old vet that's taking it in the shorts. It's kids.
