For those complaining about Kerry being too liberal, please not that NO MATTER WHO THE DEMS PUT ON THE TICKET he or she will be described as THE MOST LIBERAL PERSON ON THE PLANET by the RNC.

Remember in the primarys when Dean was ahead? They said HE was the most liberal and if dems were smart they'd go with a Kerry ticket. Then Kerry gets the ticket and suddenly HE'S the most liberal.

It's NOT ABOUT WHO IS ON THE TICKET!

It's about BRANDING BRANDING BRANDING.

1. you are right... neither Dean nor Kerry was "the most liberal"
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 09:58 AM by Cheswick
why do we continue to fall for this strategy of the RNC allowing them to think for us?

Now we have the idiots at the DLC talling us we don't eat at applebees enough. Gag.

4. You're correct, but how do we combat it?
Dean was anti-war but pretty much a moderate otherwise, yet the So-Called Liberal Media labeled him as a far left wacko very early on despite Dean being pro-business, getting high marks from the NRA and being a fiscal conservative.

5. Stop worrying about the actual record, instead focus on branding
It's not about the record. It's not about the policies.

It's about selling an image about someone, no matter what it has to do with reality.

Look at Bush: Yale northern elite cokehead who dodged the draft. But the Repubs sold him as a southern good old boy with conviction.

Take a look at the Olive Garden. Homey Italian restaurant? It's owned by GENERAL MILLS! It has nothing to do woth family or italian anything.

Dems by our nature tend to get hung up on the specifics and details while the parade passes us by. When the Swiftboat Vets hit Kerry we spent all our time dissecting their arguments and records instead of HITTING THE FUCK OUT OF BUSH.

We have to worry less about the details and the truth and more on putting forth an image.

6. All the other Run to the Center, By like THEM frantics
are missing this simple point. Thanks for reminding people of the truth behind the republican GAME of politics.

If we ran Jesus/Buddha/Ghandi, they'd still run against him and they'd still try their best to distort his position and tear his guts out. We'd still have the DLC types telling him he had to moderate himself on those virtues things in order to get the independents, etc.

It doesn't matter what we believe in or stand For. It doesn't matter who our nominee is. The Republicans have used the absurd distortions of "Flip-flopping" and "Radical Leftist" for decades and decades now. Go back and look at articles from Nixon, Ford, Reagan...this is NOTHING NEW.

But we so soon forget.
