It's the Privatization of the Vote Stupid!
Great new link!
http://trytodenythis.tripod.com/voteprivatization/
Starts off:
Before reading this, I would like to suggest to anyone reading this to choose a state and google it with “voting machines” and printers or something along those lines. For more sources do a search through your school or library database, preferably local newspapers from over the last decade. I guarantee you will find plenty of revealing articles about the vulnerability of voting machines and their lack of paper-trail in your state. My suggestion would be Nevada, the “only state that uses 100% printer-equipped, verifiable voting machines, as you have probably heard.

I am not a Democrat. I don’t believe in UFOs. And I don’t think I know who killed JFK. But I do know, that nobody can confirm to me that my vote went to the candidate I intended it to. That is not an accident.

1. Thanks --
And welcome to DU.

BTW, here's the scoop on Nevada's paper trail (hint: it's a lie):

3. When I voted Nov 2, I asked for a # or proof I voted but
the election worker told me she wished there was something she could give me. I told her it made me uneasy, but then I voted on touch screen and left.
What if I would have refused to leave until I had proof that I had voted? What if we all refused to leave without a paper trail? What if in the next even local election we wanted a receipt? Not just me but 40 - 50 - hundreds - thousands?
The elections would have a trail. Capitalists know about consumer satisfaction. Any one think it would work?

In Orange County, one of the Dems on the Central Committee (Mark Hull-Richter) contructed a program for a demo where the committee voted between Bill Lockyer and Osama for Governor and for or against legalization of child slave labor. The members had to type in a code (for security) so only those on a voter list could vote. Then the computer fed them back their vote and they verified it had recorded them correctly. Then in the counting phase it came up with the pre-programmed percentage (100%) of victory for Osama and legalization of child slave labor. So the people on the Dem Central Committee of OC proved that they love Osama and hate kids. Actually, I know some of these people. That could well be the case. However, those who watched the demo - claimed the real vote was different than the outcome.

The Republicans own the voting software. The counties are just licensees. That means the Republicans determine whether it is rigged or not and have all the rights to the code, etc.
