Has anyone seen the results of the Mayoral race San Diego
There is a progressive Democratic Women who is now leading in the vote count. Her 2 Repuke challengers are splitting their vote. There are a couple thousand votes left to count, the incumbent is a repuke. This is Pete Wilson territory, the former Gov of Calif. She sounds like a great lady. She is a former surfer, gas station attendant and cleaning lady. I believe she is currently on the city council. She got into "politics" when the pollution started making the surfers sick and no one cared. Keep your fingers crossed for her.

3. She is a democrat
The mayor in San Diego is a non-partisan office.

If no candidate gets 50% or more in the primaries then there is a run-off of the two highest vote getters in the general election. Donna jumped into the race 5 weeks ago as a write in candidate.

There are now two lawsuits trying to invalidate the vote. One local and one federal. The city charger says there are to be no write in candidates in the general election - however it is in direct contrast with another law that says there can be.

Danna is currently ahead by about 2500 votes. http://www.donnafryeformayor.com

2. Challengers have filed lawsuits
Absentee ballots are still being counted but Frye holds the lead by a slim margin causing the contenders to file suit, claiming the write-in votes are illegal. From my understanding, the City Charter says that a mayoral candidate must receive more than 50% of the votes in a General Election and in this case there's a three-way split. Of course, nobody bitched about it BEFORE the election....

A retired Judge from outside the County has been called in to hear the case since the local Judges have ties to the currently-losing Repub incumbent and are claiming conflict of interest.

Donna Frye is kick-ass and truly "for the people" and would be a breath of fresh air in any political forum!
