DNC: While 2004 Election Outcome is Undisputed, It Remains Critical to Count Every Vote

McAuliffe Calls on States to Outline Standards and Timelines for Counting Remaining Votes; Brazile Urges Additional Voting Reform

WASHINGTON DC - In response to questions and concerns of irregularities in the 2004 election, Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe and Democratic National Committee Voting Rights Institute Chair Donna Brazile issued the following statements today.

STATEMENT BY TERRY MCAULIFFE

"Unlike 2000, the Republicans simply received more votes than Democrats in this election. And while numerous irregularities have been reported - and merit investigation - it does not seem that these irregularities would overturn the outcome of last Tuesday's vote. With that in mind, as our nominee made clear, we are not contesting the outcome of this election."

----
Thanks, Terry.
-----

STATEMENT BY DONNA BRAZILE

"Hundreds of thousands of new and infrequent voters went to the polls last Tuesday.

"We owe it to these new voters to ensure their votes are counted and registered - and to look into any irregularities. While a full count and review will not change the outcome, these steps are critical to showing new voters that they have a voice in this process - one that will be heard regardless of the outcome."

"And we will not only document these failures, but the Democratic party and the Voting Rights Institute also intends to work closely with party activists and leaders in Congress on helping craft legislation to further reform voting in this nation, helping making our system fairer and more accessible to Americans."
----
And thank you, Donna. No doubt it was your frequent appearances on cable news channels, spouting similar meaningless pap, that turned the tide in this year's election.

6. Sort of looks like McAuliffe and Brazile are trying to
destroy the democratic party. Who do they think is going to vote for them after statements like that?

14. What can we expect of Brazile -- good friend of ROVE?
We --the grass roots -- the real citizens of the USA -- are certainly learning who are our friends are and whom we can trust in the future. (not to mention who can be trusted in right now on this critical issue of bringing vote fraud and BBV issues to the light.

8. I take it as a shrewd way of keeping the media's nose out of their
investigation, as well as getting full cooperation from state officials who may otherwise have taken a defensive attitude in having their tallies scrutinized.

The journalists who have reported/commented on this -- Keith Olbermann, Jonathan Alter of Newsweek -- have grave opinions that something isn't right about the voting irregularities. I agree.

13. So much
for Kerry and the leadership of the Democratic Party doing something behind the scene about voter irregularities. I never believed that to be true. Just a repeat of the 2000 election when the Dems also did noting about voting irregularities. The party does not seem to care what its members think.

18. Idiot wind
"It does not seem that these irregularities would overturn the outcome of last Tuesday's vote.

Or in other words, "it does not seem I can beat this cancer."

SO WHY TRY?

Democrats are dead. And then let it happen themselves. Ugh.

This, combined with the fascists on the march in the White House should be enough to keep me away from ever believing in any political integrity again.

If I ever support another poltical candidate, he won't be part of the DLC, the DNC or as we like to call it "the party of Zell Miller."

Anybody with balls would have written a fricking LAW stripping that asshole of ever calling himself in a legal sense a Democrat.

We have so many enemies among us it's a wonder we can feed ourselves.

I'm thinking of Bob Dylan's song.....

19. it's part of the plan
let the GOP have things to themselves for another couple years, then pick of the pieces of the once-mighty USA.

Well done, Terry and Donna, We people like you in charge, it's lucky the house isn't 435-0.
