Think Nixon and then think about Deep Throat. Remember O'Neill's book? Remember John Dean and Watergate? which one do you think is going to tell ALL on Bush/Cheney?

1. Tenet's already starting to talk. Did a lecture at a college last week,
I believe, and said the war was a mistake.

12. Tenet would be my guess too. With the backing of the CIA.
These folks are certainly in the position to know what's going on, and I still find it very unusual the was Tenet left his job.

I'm positive the CIA is not thrilled that shrub is blaming EVERYTHING on them! And outing Plame sure didn't help.

If you get Tenet, Clarke, Wilson, & O'Neil all, hmmm, having lunch a few times, shrubco is going to have trouble.

13. Yes, the CIA is not too happy with Bush. I'd bet on them to do the deeds.
And they know where all the bodies are buried.

before the election?

29. Because it'd be too easy for the WH to portray CIA dissention as partisan
before the election. Also, the press traditionally takes the gloves off in the second term; that's a plus.

3. I don't think any of the big names will do so
and I think Bush is going to have to screw up so badly that even the fundies will start to notice before the minor players come forward and blow the whistle on him.

I also think it's ineveitable.

9. he was the guy they sent in to cover up My Lai
He's been the yesman in the military who has made many scandals just go away. He's a military automaton who takes orders. He wants to keep his worthless lump of a son employed beyond his abilities at the FCC. There is no way he's going to say a word.

16. Not McCain, he sold his conscience (& his country) out ...
to the Repubs just before their convention for promises of a crack at the white house down the road. GOP succeeded where the POW camps failed. Powell, too much blood on his hands now after backing the WMD spin. IMO

14. That person would be a hero.
The US and the world need this person.

I am stunned by reports coming out of Fallujah tonight. Is there one person in the WH, CIA, FBI, or Pentagon who will put decency in front of loyalty to party and career path?

A credible, bulletproof whistleblower is one of the few ways of toppling entrenched power.

17. Richard Clarke tried more than anyone
He said Dumbya was determined to blame 9/11 on Saddam NO MATTER WHAT.

He also confirmed Paul ONeil's allegation that the Bush cartel brought up taking Saddam out IN THEIR FIRST CABINET MEETING.

What else can these guys do?

As for Powell, he is just as big a criminal as the rest.

There will be no heroes.

It is too late.

20. now Joanne is stating the facts, and...
they are RIGHT on.. it takes Dems work to uncover the scams, because the two guys that have tried, and done a very HONORABLE (esp. clarke) report on what was going on has been ignored by middle america, they don't want to hear it, they're too busy getting the new Toyota, watching Joey in his soccer game, gossiping about Aunt Rita's girlfriend, and could care LESS about the state of our county.....

and you KNOW they voted 70/30 for bush.

Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 02:33 AM by Husb2Sparkly
They're all gutless and/or self absorbed and self interested.

If anything, it will be some Linda Tripp type .... low level, unnoticed and disgruntled.

But I really have no hope there'll be any loud talking.

And while the CIA may know a lot, they probably don't know about the biggest scam ... the *real* treason ..... election fixing.

The War in Iraq (tm) is just a diversion and can actually be defended on the basis of "judgement" and and the IWR.

<edit - typos .... cuz I can't type fer shit>

that Bush** is not the Christian he claims to be, he could be the one. I don't agree with a lot of Ashcroft's theology, but I think he genuinely believes and don't think that's true of the others.

26. I've been saying all along.....
What we need now is our own independent council. We need some Kenneth Starr type to go crawling up King George's @ss with a microscope. You know the dirt can't be that hard to find. The GOP spent 50 million tax payer dollars, and 3 years investigating Clinton and what they found wasn't nearly as bad as what King George admits to freely. All we need are some Democratic senators with some cajones with nothing to loose (Kerry/Edwards) to start pushing the buttons, and a few high level media types to go with the story. Who knows maybe we can get all these clowns a bus ticket out of town.

30. Maybe
Colin Powell?

He's been the * administration scapegoat for the past four years, and now there are rumors that he's leaving. I don't know if he's brainwashed into really thinking it's his fault, or if he's just so damn loyal that he'll never speak out, but I know that if I had gotten dumped on by * (and his father, for that matter), I'd be pissed off.

He has to have some great dirt on the Bush family's inner workings, and the corruption in this administration.

32. I don't think it will be Powell
I think the CIA has a much more compelling list of reasons to spill the beans. Seymour Hersh and the Washington Post are the ones to watch... leaked memos, documents left at Starbucks, etc.

At this point, however, I'm not sure anything would get through to middle Amerika. There's already been more leaked about this administration than what took down Nixon. They just don't seem to grasp the magnitude of the criminal WRONGNESS sitting in the White House.

I lived through the Nixon years. Then, like now, I could "smell" the corruption in government. We all know it's there. I'd like to see a totally unscripted press conference at least once in this administration... David Corn at The Nation posted what that might be like. I'm sure Shrub could NOT handle a real press conference, especially if the press actually did it's job.

Deputy Chief Resigns From CIA
Agency Is Said to Be in Turmoil Under New Director Goss

By Dana Priest and Walter Pincus
Washington Post Staff Writers
Saturday, November 13, 2004; Page A01

The deputy director of the CIA resigned yesterday after a series of confrontations over the past week between senior operations officials and CIA Director Porter J. Goss's new chief of staff that have left the agency in turmoil, according to several current and former CIA officials.

John E. McLaughlin, a 32-year CIA veteran who was acting director for two months this summer until Goss took over, resigned after warning Goss that his top aide, former Capitol Hill staff member Patrick Murray, was treating senior officials disrespectfully and risked widespread resignations, the officials said.

Yesterday, the agency official who oversees foreign operations, Deputy Director of Operations Stephen R. Kappes, tendered his resignation after a confrontation with Murray. Goss and the White House pleaded with Kappes to reconsider and he agreed to delay his decision until Monday, the officials said.

Several other senior clandestine service officers are threatening to leave, current and former agency officials said.
