Which is less Rethuglican: T-Mobile or Cingular?
I figure they're both Rethuglican, but need a cell phone and hope to do the lesser of the two evils.

1. I have a friend that works for Cingular
And he hates them because they are as red as red can be.
They give an obscene amount of money to the republicans.

2. T-Mobile is actually German
It's the U.S. celluar venture of Deutsche Telekom.

Cingular is Bellsouth.

Old Europe vs. Red State, you choose.

17. yup
And still partly state owned, no less. Also, T-Mobile is pretty international, offering cheap rates almost everywhere in Europe.

Personally it is quite good thing that I can use my phone stateside as well as in Europe without a major hazzle or outrageous costs.

4. I went with Virgin Mobile.
I have no idea what their party affiliation might be, but they had a Bad Religion ringtone. Whenever my phone rings, I hear "American Jesus."

15. British
That's Richard Branson's baby. I don't know what their political affiliation is but Brits tend to be liberal and free-spirited.

6. T-Mobile put in a service center where I live that employs 800 people
Not sure about their political leanings but at least they didn't outsource these jobs to India and provided employment opportunities in a fairly economically depressed area. I'm sure they get plenty of tax breaks, but at least some folks in these parts are getting fairly decent paychecks and benefits (medical and life insurance coverage, a retirement fund, vacation, sick leave) and they have the option of flexible work schedules. I have T-Mobile cell phone service, so here's hoping they're not big Republican contributors. Just changed service providers--hate to have to do it again so soon!

7. Thanks for the response if you check a prior post I don't
think you're going to have to change...and I've decided to go with T-Mobile. It is German, vs. owned by Bell South (tough decision).

10. According to the web site
"Top Contributors to Federal Candidates and Parties" T-Mobile gave 52% of their contributions to Dems and 48% to repubs.

I'm even considering going to work for them if Bush carries out his "SS privatization plan" that will result in lowered income for me. Evil man!

12. T Mobile is a really good company...

All my friends gave major problems with their cell phone service, except for me... I tell them all the time to switch over but they don't listen...

I've been with TMobile for a long time, and I have never had a single problem with them...

credit cards underwritten by MBNA? I remember looking at them to do a balance transfer.

If nothing else comes out of this effort people, maybe we will encourage these companies to donate more equal amounts to EACH party...

I don't have a home phone. I will be switching my cellular service to Working Assets. Here's a link to their web site.

http://www.workingassets.com/

Take a look at who they're supporting by either using the button at the link above or go directly there with this one: http://www.workingassets.com/recipients.cfm

It's like a virtual who's who of causes and groups that I support.

Their credit card IS issued by MBNA, but it donate's 10 cents/purchase to good causes. From their site: "Last year, Working Assets members helped raise over $3 million for nonprofit groups working for peace, human rights, equality, education and the environment." http://www.workingassets.com/creditcard.cfm

I have two questions. What does their credit card have to do with their phone service, and what other credit card donates 10 cents/purchase to causes like Doctors Without Borders? Thinking in black and white may not be the best course to take on these things. I don't know, but I'm guessing that MBNA just administers the card, so they pick up a small fee for doing collections and maintaining customer service. But if you need a credit card, and you don't have a better option, this one may be the best.

19. A very regulated industry

Without looking I would bet that both companies give to both parties. There are both Democrats and Republicans on every committee that oversees their industry. Also states impose taxes on wireless and other communications, they would give money to powerful politicians on both sides in the states as well. So $$$ to the GOP chair of a committee and $$$ to the ranking Dem on the committee, then $$$ to the GOP Governor of this state and $$$ to the Dem Governor of that state, so on and so on. The money probably gets split pretty evenly along party lines. There are some companies that have a true leaning in their donations, usually privately owned and in an industry that is not under heavy regulation.

21. I think I will switch to T-Mobile
I have AT&T which rescently became Singular x( I can't complain about AT&T service, because I never had a problem with coverage or dead zones etc. The worst was they acted like assholes over the payment, which I had sent in but they apparently hadn't opened and then they cut my phone off with no notice. It took several calls and threats to get them to turn it back on after that I decided that the first chance I get I am dumping them.

23. T-Mobile (formerly VoiceStream) is the only cell co. I've ever used --
because I've never had even one problem. They give me bonus free minutes and discounts for being a "loyal customer" and customer
service is superior.

The rest of my family has Cingular and Sprint and bitches all the time. I've told them and told them to change, but they must love their misery.

24. I use T-Mobile too, BUT
I read alot of consumer sites, and they are saying this about all the cell phone companies: They are being pressured to sell, for LARGE bucks, their subscriber lists with phone numbers, to telemarketers. All companies, with the exception of Verizon, have agreed to sell these lists to the telemarketers at some unspecified time in the future. Go to www.consumerreports.org and www.clarkhoward.com, and do searches for telemarketing info.

28. I like my t-mobile
I just moved out to the boonies, though, and my service sucks out here. But it's only temporary, so i'm sticking with it until i move back to civilization. Not much of a phone person anyway. And I really like sitting in the parking lot after work (where my reception is fine) and making all my calls once or twice a week. ;)
