Are we in the midst of a new "Great Awakening?"
If so, is it being propelled, in part, by the rising anti-Muslim tide?
Or is talk of a new great awakening, bullshit? I hope like hell, it's the latter.

3. Religious movements
that swept the nation. The first-sparked in part by Jonathan Edwards, took place in the eighteenth century, the second in the nineteenth.

4. Remember the last time the religious kooks ran the asylum?
It was called the Dark Ages.

Something to look forward to here in the U.S. with the open hostility shown for science, literature and society by the rightwing.

6. because that religion
embraced science and mathematics and the sharing of knowledge at that time.

We see how well fundamentalist societies (of any stripe or doctrine) flourish around the world these days. Turn the public schools into madrassas, er, I mean Sunday School, and watch us sink.

7. I've been waking up extra early, for some reason....
And I've caught bits of a University of Houston telecourse on PBS--HIST 3303 "The Old South".

The teacher's really good; he said the second Great Awakening never ended.

universe, energy, lite, love.........awakening is going beyond the religion, beyond mans words and interpretation. wakening is becoming lite spirit, naked of all the restrictions, cloaks, veil life creates over time. awakening is being able to see beyond the 3d drama of life

progressive in our journey of spirituality
