AAR is almost worthless

this morning..........

Not a peep about recounts on Unfiltered (at least that I heard) and Franken is totally "biographical" so far.....

Why the silence?

I can't even pretend they are funny anymore. I'm waiting for Randi. Malloy is great too. The rest......well, at least it's better than Limbaugh stinkin' up the airwaves. I wish Laura Flanders could take Franken's slot.

She's just so much like ... them. She's as grating, shallow, adolescent, and dorky as Limbaugh.

Franken and his sidekick are usually pretty good, though. And I love Garofalo.

There's a difference between propaganda and the truth.

Show me one time Rush has used a fact on his show. RR has articles and other sources she checks out before she opens her mouth. You might not like her voice but she is right on with her stuff you can't deny that. You can't touch her in an argument because she has outread you already.

It helps to have a solid value system before evaluating these things.

Even though I am probably on the same page as her most of the time, I do not like her presentation at all.

I especially liked it when Randi was talking about Cheney's Lesbian daughter. She called her a "vagitarian" rather than a "vegetarian". That was hilarious to me at that time.

They explained that during the day, in the peek hours, (Unfiltered, Al Franken, Majority report on air hours) there's so much breaking news, and information coming out of Iraq, that they tend to focus more on stories in that category rather than election or after-election stories.

Yes, by all means let's trash AAR, which is probably the single best thing to happen to the progressive cause in years, because they can't single-handedly reverse the election results.

Randi Rhodes raised some ungodly amount of cash for Bev Harris' BBV group. And for thanks, she gets the whinging of folks like you who don't know when they've got a good thing going.

How quick some of us are to turn on our own support/leadership/platform. Almost makes me wonder how many freepers are here, hypocritically calling themselves DUers. Heh.

Air America... It's about expressing an opinion about which hosts we enjoy more... If someone doesn't like Al Franken, it doesn't mean they're trashing AAR... They're trashing Franken... Right or wrong, it is their right...

Also, how can you call it "progressive", if they won't even address the concerns of their followers... By mostly ignoring our concerns, he has turned off many people who once supported him... I'm not saying he has to agree or even believe fraud took place, it would just be nice for him to address it with a semi-serious tone and not the smirk I hear in his voice... That's all...

Totally agree with the poster above re: circular firing sqad. If AAR was aiming to please all DU members, they'd have three stations max carrying them.

Thomm Hartman is super. He is now talking about the most important issue in this country now. Borrow and spend. Borrow from China, Japan, 7 Trillion dollars in debt. Trillion is one thousand billion. LA Times says how fragile this is because of the US dollar decline. World is looking at the US as a bad investment. We are about to collapse. Expect another catastrophe.

Al Franken and Catherine Langford voices goes through my head like a nail, especially their laughing into the mike.

They really helped me after the "election." Laura Flanders was talking about how there will be a recount in Ohio, thanks to our efforts. Haven't heard much more about this. :shrug:

for the past 6 months. How soon you forget what it was like pre AAR. No mainstream truth out there in the media at all, now on in 39 markets and hopefully growing. We need AAR period. I think some of the programs have made a concerted effort to be the moderates about the brewing election scandal. Al has definitely been the most timid, and I haven't enjoyed listening to him as much as a result.

Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy are definitely the designated agitators on the air, but if you notice Randi has afternoon drive slot, the most listened to and coveted slot in radio. Nobody is muzzling her at AAR, she is the one who worked hard to start the station in the first place. Shallow? She is anything but shallow, as a downthread comment remarks. She is one of the most well-informed and passionate liberals I have ever heard, she lives and breathes this stuff, as she mentions many times, she has no life, she watches C-span and reads everything she can get her hands on about politics and current and past events in her spare time and she puts the information out there constantly. Sure, she's abrasive, and an acquired taste to some. I, having a best friend from Brooklyn, am used to her type of delivery and love it.

Mike Malloy is becoming my favorite of all, even though his time slot guarantees him not as many listeners. He is dark, but funny and dedicated. He got a call the night before the election from a lawyer who told him he knew the election was going to be stolen. Since then, when it was, Mike has been tireless in his efforts, this on no sleep with an infant at home.

If all the broadcasters on AAR reported all day long was the story about election fraud, it would quickly have a marginalizing effect on the stations popularity. They have to cover other issues, and they have to avoid the appearence of being fringe radio. The whole idea was to be a mainstream station, that reported the news truthfully, and discussed issues with a healthy dollop of a sense of humor. There is a reason most of the broadcasters are also humorists, and some stand up comics. It's not supposed to be NPR, hell, NPR isn't even NPR anymore.

Randi is awesome. Al will come around when it looks like things are happening, until then I'm sure he's content to let Randi take the heat. He is after all the name personality that brought the financing to the station, and he is also thinking about a possible career in politics after this, at least that's been rumoured.

Please enough trashing of AAR. It has kept this liberal mom from going off the deep end many a time.

I agree with your opinion of Randi Rhodes. She knows her s**t, and that's why she's abrasive and angry. If we all knew the truth, we'd be pissed, too!

And yes, the election was a big deal, but we're going to need more to get this election overturned. The Freepers are much more organized than us and their constant litany could not drive Bill Clinton from office, I fear if we have a litany, we will get no further with Bush.
