Need to get info on an Israeli hardliner

I don't know his name, but he was just talked about on NBC nightly news and he has written a book called "democracy", I believe. He believes that democracy get succed in the Arab States, and he is said to be very close to Bush. It was said that with Powell leaving, this man will have a lot of clout inside the whitehouse. This is very worrysome to me and should be to all DU'rs. Does anyone know this guys name, and have more info on him? Also now they are showing video of the Marine killing the un-armed civilians.
