And while he's busy convincing us that they don't exist, nowhere in his article does Charles mention Dubya winning the Evangelical vote 78% to 21%.

I guess the "liberal media" must have made that one up too.

of this 'turn it on them' deal. The right wing keeps screaming about the LIBERAL media, how 'all the news channels tried to get Kerry elected, and even with that, he couldn't get elected". What channels are you watching, because everything I seem to tune into- TV, radio, many newspapers, is so right wing I want to puke. Then again, I have honestly heart right wingers refer to FAUX news as "true to their word, very fair and balanced"... so maybe these are the fools who believe that the "liberal media" is corrupting America.

Born in New York, raised in Montreal, resides in suburban Washington.

All together, I lived in the bible belt for 23 years and Charles Krauthammer doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

22. I could be wrong but I don't think Falwell has ever recanted his
segregationist past. - Also, isn't it interesting how so many of the same people who opposed civil rights for blacks are now opposing civil rights for gays and lesbians? (and yes I know there are some blacks who are anti-gay rights).

18. Repubs have been using "liberal media" for so long that
it has become embedded in the American conscience. Same with Liberal being a pejorative. I wonder...are they afraid that "Redneck Fundamentalist" will become embedded. "Kool-Aid Drinkers" will follow them for years.

Not as much talk about the Evangelicals now. CNN just showed a clip of Red State Nebraska. No Evangelicals there.

There are plenty of bigoted Republicans with too much money & education to be considered rednecks. And some rednecks are Democrats; they might belong to unions, or just be contrary enough to think for themselves.
