We Should Begin The Softening Up Of Frist-The Chosen One
I believe Bill Frist will be the the choice of the religious right and of Bush to ascend to the presidency in four years. It doesn't matter who runs against him for the nomination because for the repukes elections are only for show.

1. Agree with you 100%. For all of those who gripe about us talking
about 2008 now, they are missing the point. The repukes are in charge because of long range planning. We must do the same.

4. I sent this LTTE to the Washington Post
Mr. Frist's Betrayal of Trust

Like a spoiled child who has been given everything that his heart desires, Bill Frist is telling Arlen Specter to toe the party line or be left behind. Mr. Specter has over thirty years experience in government and is one of the most respected GOP members of the Senate. He can be counted on to do the right thing for the people of Pennsylvania.

Yet he must "prove himself" to the radical conservatives who have taken control of our government. The moral bankruptcy of the GOP has never been more obvious. Not only are its members unwilling to work with their fellow Senators in the Democratic Party, they are now attacking the members of their own party who are willing to work with members of both parties to do what is morally right for the people of our great country.

The GOP cannot even wait until its majority rule becomes a fact before it starts what it does best- bullying its members and abusing the power entrusted to them by the voters. In a country where its leaders are elected to represent the will of its people, this is a blatant betrayal of trust. I would expect more of our elected leaders.

6. you have to remember
Arlen has been around a looong time, and is really good at playing the media and the Reps. Plus all his years as a prosecutor and playing the Senate PR angle. I think you might be surprised.

8. I don't doubt Specter's abilities.
I'm not even pulling for him per se. What I wanted to do with the letter is to just get a message in front of people that didn't show the GOP in a positive light. Plus it attacks Frist, who will be up for election in 2006.

I think if we start planting negative images of GOP figures now then we have two years to let it sink in. My goal is to beat the GOP at their own game.

11. yes Frist is really creepy
Santorum, et al. Why anyone sees these guys as even approaching "moderate" or reasonable is beyond me. Just look at their records. And Arlen is no saint, but he is pro-choice.

5. Bill Frist is a fucking prick.
Arlen Specter voted for Robert Bork, and you're telling me that he has to "prove himself" to the GOP?

9. Family Biz HCA involved in huge Medicare Fraud case
HCA Inc., the nation’s largest for-profit hospital chain, recently reached an agreement to settle claims in the government’s longest-running Medicare fraud investigation. Combined with previous settlements, HCA has agreed to pay a record $1.7 billion in civil and criminal penalties.

The company was charged with systematically overbilling Medicare as well as using illegal kickbacks to induce doctors to refer patients. According to “The New York Times,” among the most egregious billing abuses was a second set of cost reports maintained by HCA, Inc. The reports contained significantly lower expenses than those submitted to the government.

12. "Bill Frist" is Republican for "Al Gore"--and he's a cat killer.
"If you wouldnt' trust him with your cat, how can you trust him with our nation's future?"
