Within two years, Colin Powell will switch parties.....he will become a Democrat and run for the Senate. He's dead meat to the Repubs right now (disloyal to Lord Dubya donchaknow...) He still has a modicum of respect from moderates and libs...so he'll go to where he's wanted... Have fun with this..........

1. He has no respect from ME. Because he had no respect for HIMSELF
after that disgraceful dog-and-pony show at the UN. He let himself be used. And for what? I would never trust him, ever.

2. I would be happy for him to take a Republican seat
I have no idea where he's from but if he were to switch parties and take a moderately conservative state's seat from a Republican that would be great. I'm not crazy about him now but maybe he realizes his sins and will spend the rest of his life atoning.

what I am counting on. He will go where he has a future, he's still a relatively young man....he has no future with the Repubs...he doesn't have anywhere else to go...in terms of pure self-interest.

4. If he would have quit the first time aWol asked him to lie I might have
been able to give him some respect. He made his bed he can lie in it. If you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas.

16. he started lying to cover up My Lai
and saw that it was his ticket to the top. The more he lied, the faster he rose. He is nothing but an opportunist and has no integrity.

5. Oh dear lord, I can see it now....
The Dems find yet another way to self-destruct: Powell/Clinton ticket for Pres in 2008. This would be a bigger train wreak than Toy Story 3.

6. all his opponent needs to do is play his U.N. speech
where he vouched that everything he said was a provable fact and then went on to make about 35 materially false assertions. I can never trust the man again, and I don't know anyone who can.

8. Short attention span theatre
that's the halmark of the American electorate...... beside, the repubs couldn't play tapes of him lying at the UN because he was lying FOR THEM!

13. just like they didn't beat up on Kerry for his pro IWR vote?
I think you might be right about the short-attention span bit, though.

9. Damaged, worthless, gutless goods.
I'm surprised he can still stand upright, he's spent so much time bending over either to kiss ass or get fucked.

I see a cozy retirement, maybe a nice lectureship at George Washington U, a yacht. A book or two.
