Mark Crispin Miller could use Freeper-defense
One of our speakers of truth is under attack from the freeper brigade. He could use a little support DU

Let’s Get Real

By Mark Crispin Miller

How better to commit the perfect crime than to insist it never happened?

Bush & company’s theft of the election was a crime so obvious that it requires more effort to deny than to affirm. This rip-off was as flagrant as the L.A. cops’ assault on Rodney King, Kerry’s stellar soldiering in Vietnam, or Bush’s lousy record in the Texas Air National Guard, and yet this national calamity is being dismissed as a delusion.

The reason for the Busheviks’ denial is as obvious as the theft itself: How better to commit the perfect crime than to insist it never happened?

And yet what makes this stance so dangerous is not just its use on the right, but its prevalence throughout the corporate media (MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann excepted) and even among those on the left. To charge that the Republicans did not legitimately rout the Democrats provokes the counter-charge that such claims “hurt the cause” by floating angry fantasy instead of scientific fact.

Some of the attacks:

“This rip-off was as flagrant as the L.A. cops’ assault on Rodney King, Kerry’s stellar soldiering in Vietnam”

Rodney, never met a person i did not want to hit over and over again, King?  Mr violent himself!

John, 4 months in Vietnam with 3 injuries, Kerry.

Yeah, the analogy is pretty much right. LOL!

“Bush’s scandalous Guard service by distracting them with the canard that those incriminating documents revealed by CBS were fakes—or rather, that one of them might not have been authentic.”

Yeah, just because they were forgeries, doesn’t mean they were not true!

It is time for the truth. The American people can handle it! Aliens from area 51 have stolen the election. Bush is really a clone! Let the revolt begin!!!

LMAO!!!!

Mark, its me, Kim. I really like you and want you to get back on your meds. Please Mark, you can be the man you used to be. It has been a hard year, but just have some faith and go back to see your doctor. He has the meds you need to recapture your bearings and be able to discern reality from fantasy. If you won’t do it for yourself, please please do it for me.

Love, Kim.

1. From reading the replies
the freeper has been reeled back in. Great points made by the posters. We need to take our country back, from the media to the government, they need to understand that they work for us.

4. I'll bet Miller wrote this not long after his appearance on Al Franken
Franken was so rude, imo, in his efforts to downplay the whole thing as so much wacko conspiracy theory. While he was walking a fine line on not overtly accusing Miller of such, Franken as much as said afterwards that he was uncomfortable and probably sorry he had addressed the whole issue on his show. Apparently he only did so, because of the slew of emails we all have sent him.

I can't (let myself) dislike Franken, just because he is so cautious, centrist, and probably self-serving (in that he is trying to protect himself for a future senate run). That is to say, I can't dislike him because to do so opens the gates to at least 50% plus of the so-called Democratic party. There is nowhere else for libs/progressives to ally at this point. All we can do is keep chipping away, I guess.

6. Franken's problem is he really didn't think kerry could "lose"
That there could be fraud on such a scale isn't something he could believe in. He thought at this point he would be making jokes about bush leaving the WH, and instead bush is getting more soldiers killed.

And for Franken it's a nightmare, since he'll doing a USO show in iraq soon, and for him it will be an audience of men and women, some of whom could dead soon after the show.

It's more than he seems to be able to handle.

I pity him, but he needs to let people like Mark have their say without putting them down for telling the truth about the fraud.

9. Posted a response, thanks!
I will not be going back to debate freepers, however. I left another forum because it was freeper heaven. If I want to waste my time talking to people with closed minds, I know where to find 'em. :-)

11. I have always liked Mark Crispin Miller
I got to know him on Al Franken's show. Do you want us join here and to take on the Freepers at this site? I am a member of FR who decided that I just couldn't handle going there ever again. I was totally exhausted defending John Kerry's military record, which was exemplary! I'll think about it, since I do think this guy is great. Thanks for posting it.:-)
