But if you really think that Democrats just aren't getting the job done, you are certainly free to give up whatever it is that you do and run for Senate yourself and put in the performance that you claim Democrats are failing to do.

Or, short of that, you might just want to go to a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting and watch Leahy and the other Democrats fight tooth and nail for US - if you think there's no difference between us and them, this will definitely change your mind. Maybe if you see how hard they work and how effective they are in light of their diminished numbers and power, you'd stop calling them wimps, but quick.

There's a reason Cheney cussed Leahy out on the Senate floor. Cheney wouldn't have wasted his time or gotten so angry at someone who didn't get in his way - big time.

Russ Finegold helped confirm John Ashcroft. Sometimes senators give ground on issues that give victory to the other side just so they can fight the important battles.

They all pick their battles and since we are a minority, again, we have to be smart.

The president is typically allowed to choose whoever he likes for his cabinet. This is tradition, and it makes sense.

Would you want a bunch of repugs gumming up the Kerry cabinet? No.

Clinton gave up Zoe Baird and Kimba Woods before getting confirmation with Janet Reno. He also ditched Lani Guanier.

We managed to block John Tower. And like the with Bork hearings, I don't think the Repubs ever got over that and have been hot for payback since.
