AFL-CIO action alert re: H-1b guest workers
Right now, Congress is giving last-minute consideration to legislation that would increase the number of high-tech and professional foreign guest workers who can work in the United States even though U.S. workers in the occupations most affected already suffer high unemployment rates. The proposal would be included in the 2005 Omnibus Spending bill..

The legislation is part of an agenda by the Bush administration and congressional allies to enable businesses to hire foreign workers they can pay less than U.S. workers under the H-1b visa program. Please click this link to take urgent action now: http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/ProtectJobsNow

The proposal Congress is debating now would allow foreign graduates with advanced degrees from American colleges or universitiesmore access to professional and technical jobs here. While giving companies a supply of lower wage workers, the measure also would worsen today’s job crisis for professional and technical workers whose unemployment rates are already at record levels. Please act now: http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/ProtectJobsNow

The legislation also would accelerate job exports by giving H-1b visa holders the training and skills they need to take their jobs overseas.

America needs economic strategies to create jobsnot proposals that allow employers to exploit H-1b visa holders and pay them less than their U.S. counterparts. Please click the following link to urge your members of Congress to oppose any legislative effort to increase the number of H-1b visas. http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/ProtectJobsNow

Thank you for all you do,

2. Done, for whatever the f good it will do.
Republican Congress, Republican President, lame duck session.

Who the f in that group gives a damn about American workers? It's a slam dunk. Republicans won't care until we are a third world nation.
