WP - Kerry Urges Democrats To Fight Values 'Assault'
"Kerry Urges Democrats To Fight Values 'Assault'
E-Mail to Supporters Renews Battle Against Bush

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A63697-2004Nov19.html

Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) signaled a return to partisan warfare with President Bush yesterday in an e-mail to supporters in which he accused the administration of preparing a "right-wing assault on values and ideals" and called on Democrats to fight back against what he labeled Bush's extreme agenda.

Two weeks after delivering a generous concession speech that called for a lessening of the bitter partisanship that had marked the contest with Bush, Kerry picked up where the campaign left off and demonstrated his determination to be the leader of the opposition, in spite of his defeat.

-snip-
The e-mail message represented a call to arms to Democrats. At a time when many Democrats are looking inward to examine the reasons for Bush's victory and to take stock of what they need to do to make their time in the political wilderness as short as possible, Kerry said Democrats should in no way give Bush a pass at the beginning of his second term. "This is not a time for Democrats to retreat and accommodate extremists on critical principles," he wrote. "It is a time to stand firm."

Kerry's decision to challenge Bush so directly suggested that he hopes to return to the Senate as a much more aggressive and forceful legislator than he was in the years before he ran for president. By staking out health care as the first issue on his post-election agenda, Kerry showed he is also willing to tread on turf long claimed by other Democrats, particularly Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts's senior senator, in whose shadow Kerry has spent his entire Senate career.

I think we are all ready to fight. "Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) signaled a return to partisan warfare" - are they kidding - like it ever left?

1. "I think we are all ready to fight."
Woah. Didn't you get the memo? Everyone's either a sell-out hack, traitor to the party or naive neophyte. Don't you know we can't trust anyone except for whoever the flavor of the day is? Geez... you're such a traitorous, naive sell-out hack.

sarcasm off

3. I missed that memo which is too bad because that all seems so
very productive.

I think Skinner needs to put the Acrimony forum back up so everyone who wants to piss and moan can go in there together and the rest of us don't have to listen to it.

Kerry needs the grassroots to help him have a larger influence and people to apply pressure through e-mails, calling, etc.

We need him or else we lack focus and don't have much of a plan, or way to break through into the MSM to get any attention for our goals and complaints.

2. Great...we need
to stay on the offensive and Kerry in particular needs to put
Bush on the defensive, off guard and off balance.
Astrologically speaking if Bush stays focused he can prevail,
but if he panics...! Kerry on the other hand "the skies
really do augur well for Sagittarians with their fingers
crossed. So make sure you let everyone know what you'd love to
have happen and make the odd wish on a star!" The 29th is
a "power day" for both signs so lets pour our
positive energy into the task at hand right now. Push negative
thoughts away!! There is no time to waste.

4. Hm...
Dear Senator Kerry,

Where the FUCK have YOU been for the past two weeks?

Sign me,
Bitter and President-Less in San Francisco

P.S. I still believe in your policies -- I actually felt GOOD about voting for you (even if your spine turned to jelly at the mention of "gay marriage") -- but you weren't supposed to turn into The Invisible Man after that premature concession speech and leave 56 million Americans foundering in a sea of despair. You really pissed me off. Have you got your second wind now? Are you ready to start kicking some Republican nuts? I sure hoope so -- because we still have no leader, and Boxer and Pelosi can't kick this party into gear all by themselves.

5. A two week break after two years isn't all that long
but it did seem like FOREVER after you are used to knowing where he is every second of the day.

There was a power vacuum at the top of the Dem party and I'm glad he decided to step back in and take that spot.

7. It seemed so odd
until the dribbles of voter trouble/fraud started to circulate. I was angry too until a friend e-mailed me a link to BBV, then it all made sense. Kerry and Edwards are both extremely smart motivated lawyers, they know enough to gather evidence before going to court. Let the "winners" grow complacent and sloppy. If that is the way it went down, it's brilliant.

8. He could have listened to Bill
He could have come out in favor of all the state gay marriage amendments. He could have bought into this stupid moral values. But he didn't and I wish gay people could appreciate that he gave as much support as he could and still stand a chance to get elected.

But I agree with you, I've kind of felt like a little duck in a great big ocean the last few weeks. Glad he's back and ready to roar!

Why dont you try BEING a fighter first Mr. Kerry. Then maybe we'll listen.

So goes the consequences of your actions.

10. Can't you all
just try to stay positive for just a little while longer? There will be plenty to piss and moan about over the next 4 years. Kerry was the best thing since sliced bread a month ago and now so many DU'ers talk about him like he is pond scum. I feel depressed just reading the posts. And if it's putting a damper on my energy imagine what it is doing for those actually involved in the fight.

12. I said it before and I will say it again...............
This man has always been a fighter. Kerry beleives srongly in what he does and always makes a point to do his best at anything he has sets out to do! This man knows exactlly what he's doing and how to do it and come out with the best results possible! Just because people don't know his every move, what he is doing, and how he is doing it doesn't mean the man has been sitting on his a$$, rolled over and quit, and not involved in everything that has been going on! If and when they can prove he won this election all of his supporters will be told very quickly in the meantime we have to wait till they can prove he won. He will deal with all the voting problems and deal with the voter fraud. Nothing happens overnight. The man knows what he's doing he was a attorney himself. He still has many friends and a brother that is a attorney. He doesn't have to let everything be known for the media to spin it and the repukes to be out here getting in the way trying to cover their a$$es. And I can say this even if they can't get this election overturned when all is said and done Bush and the repukes will wish they never heard the name Kerry! But we still have to see what they come up with as far as overturning the election. And also regardless if the election is overturned or not you will see some people go down over all the voter fraud and you will see something done about fixing the voting system. But the man can only do so much so quick. I have said all along he has not quit anything. The man is not a quitter.
