New GOP Senators + CNN stories = horror of horrors
I read in this week's Economist that one of the new GOP senators is a rabid creationist. Yet another, is so anti-abortion that he plans legislation to apply the death penalty to anyone involved in an abortion.

Then, a long, disgusting religious story this morning from CNN, (from now Christian Nuts Network).

Instead of covering bombs in Iraq, or 25,000 protesters greeting the president in Chile, they had a long special which seemed to be written by, for and about evangelicals, as though only their morals count and their science views are worthy of study. They also mentioned the "favorable" changes in the Senate and openly seemed to support this whole movement.

It did not seem like news, but cheerleading.

I HATE where these morans are taking my country.

1. Yep
I'm of the opinion that the new gop Senaturds are as bad if not worse than b*shcheney. Coburn (OK) & DeMint (SC) are total lunatic fundie homophobe nazi wingnuts; they are the scariest. Thune (SD), also a creationist, is a lying asshole attack dog with no redeeming qualities whatsoever; boy did SD fuck up. Burr (NC) is a 100% bushbot corporate tool. Don't know much about Martinez (FL), but he seems to be an arrogant piece o' crap, based on one debate I did see. Isakson (GA) I know less about, but seems less repugnant than the rest. Don't know anything about Viter (LA).

2. by my count there are 6 true creationists in the senate.
who knows how many pollute the house.

What the hell is wrong with this country? This is not being "fair" or open minded. Letting these self-proclaimed idiots into power is dangerous. Their path leads to delusion and self-destruction. there is so much evidence, billions of stars, billions of years of expansion, - the mind boggles.

They are also impossible to argue with.

Faith means there is no possible proof. If you pray, and things turn out favorably, that means god heard your prayer. If you pray, and it turns out unfavorably, it is god's will.

With logic like that, a whole library of contrary fact can do nothing against willful, deliberate ignorance. I truly believe that these christians are committing child abuse with their home skuling.
