The Kiss with Condoleeza

My problem with the kiss and with the appointment of Rice as Secretary of State is the clear sense of entitlement and arrogance that Chimp projects with it. Treating Rice in a personal way (kissing in the way he did), rather than in the traditional, more formal, way suggests to me that he sees himself with a very personal sense of entitlement to his "throne". Look also at the changes he was having made to the bedroom in the WH. All suggests an overarching arrogance that really pisses me off.

Also, about the kiss(es), he treats Rice as his own little personal 'ho'. I'm sorry to say that, and I know some will hear misogynist overtones or whatever, but he truly reminds me of some low-rate pimp these days. He's so damn slimy and he looks at her with such a smarmy sense of ownership, it bugs me out. I wonder if his appointing minorities to serve beneath him makes him feel like an old time southern slave-owner and gives him a rush of power... Any thoughts?

So you add that to who and what he is and how he is dismantling this country and the rest of the world and I would say yes, he has an overarching sense of arrogance.

Like you, he gives me the feeling of an old time Southern plantation owner. That class was extremely arrogant and did their best to instill racism as an institution not just to put down blacks but to cement their position of power among whites in the south. As long as poor whites felt that they had someone to look down upon, they were content with their sorry lot in life. Somehow, with the gay-bashing that went on in this past election, I can't help but feel that the planter class hasn't resurrected itself and is up to its old tricks, substituting one minority for another as objects of fear and hate.

But regardless, it was absolutely inappropriate as a public gesture. He kissed the other new appointee, too, and in a way that was worse because he's not a close friend of this woman (even if he and Condor Lizard aren't an "item," they are known to be close friends). If my boss kissed me while congratulating me for a promotion I'd sue his ass for sexual harassment. And if my boss were Shrub, I'd have to get myself decontaminated. Eewww. I'd rather empty bedpans in a cholera ward.

so I would discount the "southern slave-owner" scenario. I think the rest of your points are very valid. You've verbalized my discomfort with those scenes. This plays into his sense of entitlement.

I think kissing someone like that was a way of subtly undermining their authority. I've never had any bosses kiss me like that, although I've had a friendly hug or two as I left a job.

was that there was more romance involved. I didn't see the kiss that everyone is referring to, but I did see him kissing her on the cheek and it sure looked like it was something he was use to doing. She giggled and blushed and acted like a junior high school girl. The whole atmosphere of her accepting the nomination for sec of state was not 'normal' in the sense of the seriousness nature of what she was signing on for, but more like being crowned homecoming queen.

Maybe, unbeknownst to us, she was actually being named "rapturecoming queen".

I was aghast that an appointment of such stature should be reduced to a level where the presumed POTUS actually kisses someone. Did you see the look on Condi's face? She closed her eyes like she was in some sort of ecstasy? Well, she probably was in ecstasy that all her hard work of bowing and scraping had paid off, but still ...

And then he kissed the new Secretary of Education, too.

It reeks of a banana republic, of a monarchy, of something far, far below the level of human dignity which should be embodied in matters of state. People are definitely talking about it. No one has said a word about the racial difference. It's the chumminess that's giving everyone the creeps. The next four years are going to be hell with * wanting to spend his political "capital". He is surrounding himself with * butt kissers. Completely, absolutely, entirely, utterly inapproriate. I've had a woman for a boss. It is simply bizarre for me to imagine that it might have been perceived by anyone as appropriate for her to kiss me. But, indeed, we live in bizzarro world now.

It would be way ironic if it turned out that BU$H had uglier sexual tendencies than poor Clinton did. People tend to forget that although it isn't defensible that Clinton had intimate contact with Lewinsky, among others, Lewinsky had made plans before she went to Washington to blow the President. She made a comment to friends about packing her Presidential knee pads. Like a lot of young women she obviously had a misunderstanding of where exactly that puts you in relation to the person you're on your knees to, but I digress.

Anyway, could it be that our Fearless Fuckup actually is either flirting with these women or actually doing them? (shudder)
