1. Nobody
I don't want to go right of Kerry. The voters already say "they can't tell the difference".

But I don't know what Democrat could win with the way our party is organized and led. They'd have to be a real political luminary, right?

3. Bill RIchardson?
Assuming he wins reelection in NM in '06 by a sufficient amount.

He would at least bring NM (and probably CO as well)

It is not about "to the right" (and only on DU is Kerry considered 'rightwing')
It was Dems won't keep you safe, Kerry wants us to pass a "global test" etc, and the media mostly acted as Bush's stenographer.

Read this study of Bush voters if you haven't already. Short and to the point

Nice thought that, huh? If you wish to put a right wing candidate up against the GOP in '08 you will most likely be doing the work of the GOP and Rove....you sly boots you.;-)

would vote for anybody to the right of Kerry. That would essentially include Ricard Nixon, and the entire host Mordor.

12. This question assumes that Kerry is toward the right. That's nonsense.
Kerry is anti-death penalty, pro-choice, pro-civil unions, pro-civil justice, pro-environment, pro-affirmative action, pro-health care, pro-multi-lateralism, pro-separation of church and state, etc. Kerry's only conservative tendencies are in the area of economic policies and even there he is well to the left of Bill Clinton.

He's plenty progressive; that was not his weak spot.

Plus, he just didn't have the personality that most redneck Americans like. He was too "smart".

feet. he also has a powerful delivery in interview situations. He's a bit centrist for my druthers, but, my vanity is not nearly as important as saving the world from Republican rule.

Most of the Senate is to Kerry's right, as are most prominent Democrats.

I suppose anyone CAN win, but no matter how centrist they are, they'd all be labeled as out of touch crazies who identify with the far left lunatics in the Dem party.

18. That's if you except that the climate is truly right-wing.
I, for one, feel that if Democrats get out of the cities long enough to see how the rest of America feels they may find that many people are very liberal on many issues.
