That Roland Gift was in. I never saw it but I remember from the reviews that it was about the fall of the Tories who were in power due to a scandal.

I can dream, can't I?

The Secretary of State for War (no euphemisms then) was caught having an affair with a girl who was also sleeping with a Soviet diplomat. This uncovered a whole demi-monde of young women being procured for the rich and powerful. The politician, John Profumo, resigned because he had lied to Parliament about it (ahhh, those were the days); he went on to do some excellent charity work.

It also gave us this iconic portrait of the girl in question, Christine Keeler:

The woman who played the part is Joanne Whaley-Kilmer. Formerly married to Val Kilmer. I can't believe this movie was released way back in '89!
