Poll question: Who will win Iowa?
Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 06:17 PM by spooky3
Because we have only 10 options, I'm going to list only a subset #1-#2 predictions, but please feel free to pick "other", then describe, and/or add a reply with your list of all 4, plus any comments.

I've listed names as:

person you think will be #1, person you think will be #2

23. That's my guess.
But that wasn't a choice. Dean/Gephardt/Kerry/Edwards in that order.

6. you can put them in "other"
I made the choices based on poll results and even then, I wasn't able to get all the possible combinations in.

If someone wants to start another poll with the other 4 rather than these 4 named, that would be great!

7. Bush wins Iowa!
Bush wins Iowa for the following reasons:

1. Bush is running unopposed in the Republican caucus, so he is really winning the Iowa GOP caucus.

2. Bush won when the Democratic candidates spent all of their ammo attacking each other's character and patriotism instead of attacking Bush. I am sure that Karl Rove is thankful for all of the information he got about our candidates, information that he will use in the Fall when one of them is the nominee.

3. Bush won because tomorrow the headlines will be about the SOTUS speech and its "positive message" as the media pundits are already saying on TV. The pundits will compare Bush's "positive message" to the "four car pile up" the Democrats will get out of Iowa.

The media has manipulated us. They are the ones that, starting with Ted Koppel, began using "vanity campaigns" to describe the candidacies of Dennis Kucinich. They are the ones that need a horse race for their ratings. They are the ones that will be willing tools of the Rovian PR machine to destroy the Democratic nominee in the Fall, even if he is a war hero, or a former General.

I'd love a second-place finish for my guy, but I don't see it happening.

While the others have the Big Mo, I'm going to predict that Dean and Gephardt's organizations come through for them.

22. Noone, which will be bad for Dean, Gephardt

Last week I thought Dean and Gephardt would be essentially in a statistical tie for first, and Kerry and Edwards would be far, far back of them. The fact that Kerry and Edwards have made it a four-member top bracket means, to me, that Dean and Gephardt lost that front-runner boost.

With four "winners", I don't think anyone will get the boost of "winning" Iowa. It will turn Clark and Lieberman's choices to avoid Iowa less of a liability than it would otherwise have been, though.

So if you're a stickler for a #1/#2 answer, I'll go with Clark #1, Lieberman #2.

25. Gephardt
Anyone see the union pep rally this morning. I have a feeling Big Brother, i.e. the union bosses will be watching. The unions will encourage their members to turnout and I don't think the response its cold and I don't have time will be met with an "its okay let's have a group hug". I think it will be met with a "the union is counting on you and we expect you'll be there".

Jimmy Hoffa isn't in Iowa to congratulate the candidates on their pancake flipping ability.

26. Jimmy Hoffa Jr. never worked a day as a teamster
He was a Mafia lawyer and now he is doing the same thing his daddy did for the Mafia.
