John Gibson (Fox): " Was Dan Rather bitten by the Bush-hating bug?"
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 05:36 PM by Bush_Eats_Beef
The quote in the headline is the "teaser" headline Fox is currently using for this article on their front page. When you click it the actual title is "Anchors Away."

So learn your lesson from the Mighty John Gibson, boys and girls...LEARN IT WELL. If you choose to "hate" our beloved commissar-in-chief, you COULD end up in the line at the soup kitchen with your fellow communist, Dan Rather...

His career is remarkable and distinguished and it's a shame he got caught up in the thing that brought him down.

What was that thing? I know a lot of you are going to say he started out as a youth in "red state" Texas and wound up a grown man in "blue state" New York, but that isn't it, I don't think.

I think it was Bush hating. I don't know that Rather hated Bush, but I think it was obvious that the Bush haters got to him and he had come to agree that Bush was too stupid, or too wrong about a bunch of things to be president for a second term.

That led to a sense of entitlement about bending the J-school rules when it came to Bush.

1. Talk about GLOATING!
Gibson was worse than O'Really when subbing on his radio show this morning ... Absolutely sickening. "The Red State tidal wave took old Dan out." And then he did his own version of *'s "heh-heh-heh" laugh. My blood pressure went through the roof.

2. He'll be bitterly disappointed when he realizes that Rather is still
employed by CBS, he's just going to be doing specials and the two 60 Minutes shows.

To suck the shit-stains out of Mr. Rather's shorts.

Come back when your other journalistic testicle has descended, Gibson, you trite, smarmy, greasy prick.

10. Tell us how you really feel, Tandalayo
I feel the same way too, girlfriend.

I remember the way the news used to be and I weep for what was once a great country.

6. Typical conservative playbook
I'm sure all the ignorant poor white trash in red states will be saying tomorrow in monosyllabic tones "ra-ther, bush - ha-ter; heard it on fox, must tell bu-ba." Cable ratings are up because the ignorant in America have flocked to faux. People who believe the sun revolves around the earth and that hussein had wmd. People who solidify their knowledge at free republic. Ignorant bastards who hate homosexuals while divorce at record rates, have sex with their kids, beat their wives and get teens pregnant - in other words, bush's base.

8. Does it strike anyone else hilarious
that both conservatives and adolescent NBA fans have both taken to using the same verbal tact to describe someone who doesn't agree with their guy.

We got Kobe Haters, T-Mac Haters, and Shaq Haters... And of course Bush Haters...

The whole thing is immature in the extreme. Par for the course for Faux News and the wing nuts.

9. Gibson is a first-rate whore. That dipstick with a goober hairdo
doesn't even try to veil his hardcore bias. It's a sad day for journalism when punks like him, with no zero credibility, lob critiques against those who built the freaking mass media industry (for better or worse).

11. *Sigh*
I'm going to do that thing people don't like here at DU; say what I think of CBS.

They were good, but descended into simple liberal spin, becoming the opposite of Fox News.

14. *Sigh*. That, my friend, is the spin. CBS - liberal spinners?? Please!
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 09:14 PM by jefferson_dem
Rather and CBS were not and are not liberal shills. Sure, they got burned by the document story dust-up. If anything, that served to benefit chimp-boy and his sleazebag apologists in the rw hate media because it allowed them to continue to discredit the truth with wide-brush lies about the "mainstream media" blah blah blah.

Besides, there is no sacred cow status applied to CBS here on the board. Try again, and without rw talking points.

What's YOUR agenda?

15. I WISH journalists were infected with the Bush-hating bug
Maybe then they wouldn't have been such pandering submissive bitches when the war was approaching and we needed critical journalism more than ever before. I'll never forget that.
