I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown
I'm not a "leader" type, I'm just not. I wish I was because if I was I would be asking people to join me to grab their coats and meet me to storm the news agencies like CNN, FOX, CBS, NBC and refusing to leave until they use the airwaves to do the right thing and inform the public at large at what is happening to our country. If I was convincing or charasmatic enough, people would see the urgency and join me.

I hate that I can't even convince my own husband and parents to become more in-tune over what is happening and understand the implication to posterity. How could I convince others to stop their daily routine and sacrifice some time from their lives for the sake of our nation if I can't even convince my own loved ones to do that?

I may just implode.

Paul Krugman on 10/22/04:
"We’re within inches of having most of the world, actually all of the world, and quite a few Americans, believing that we’re no longer a functioning democracy. That could happen a month from now. Moderates and liberals made a terrible mistake in 2000. Their attitude was well, this was very bad, but the right thing to do was to basically gloss over it and pretend it’s okay. That just encouraged these guys. It should have been a mobilizing point. Instead, everything we really know about the voting looks worse this year…. "

2. I have learned that
unfortunate reality as well. I can talk and convince people, I am good at that because I have taken the time to learn but as far as being a leader I am hopeless. I sit on boards and many committees because I have great ideas and am a good worker but don't ever give me my own committee. We are just as important as the leaders, it took me a while to learn that but there have to be followers, idea people and workers or the leaders can't lead.

3. Hang on there Bling****We need that energy of yours to
get us moving here! WHat you are saying is exactly what we should be doing. The key here like always I guess, is implementation.

Im very grateful you brought this idea up because I think we should be picketing these networks and I think it would certainly bring some attention to the networks from people driving by wondering why we are picketing. If we were able to get enough people I think it could be very effective.

I think it would be great to have Moveon and/or True Majority sponsor these. Or Democracy for America.

WE most definitely need to be doing something more active. I love what you mentioned and I think that at the least we should be camped out outside every single one of these headquarters.

4. oh no you're not..
...NOT going to have a nervous breakdown. You're needed.

Don't think you have to convert everyone in your real life. You can be a real force for change by writing letters, passing out flyers, etc.

5. It's an f'ing nightmare
This is a must read.
...snip...
"Texas Observer: The paperback version of your book ends with a quote from John Dean’s Worse Than Watergate: “I’ve been watching all the elements fall into place for two possible political catastrophes, one that will take the air out of the Bush-Cheney balloon and the other, far more disquieting, that will take the air out of democracy.”
Where are we right now?

Paul Krugman: We’re right on the edge between those two possibilities. Things have shifted quite a lot over the past few days. On the one hand, the ruling party really doesn’t believe in democratic norms. They’ve been trying to rig the election in a number of ways, and they’ve rolled out that a vote for John Kerry is a vote for the terrorists, in effect. That’s a deeply undemocratic thing, and if they win, they will try to institutionalize that. On the other hand, if they lose and the records are opened—it’s pretty obvious that it will be devastating. So it’s a weird moment. You feel like people are noticing the nakedness of the emperor—finally—but either just at the last minute or maybe not quite in time."
...snip...

I'd like to see them interview Krugman now that the election has happened.

It's like being trapped in a pit.
I just try to say the Serenity Prayer every day. It helps just a little bit.

Probably won't be long as my skills for coping with frustration seem to be tested constantly these days.

10. You hate that you cannot convince your husband and parents?
Check out this little snippet from a letter my brother send out to all his "flock" around the world, (he's been a Presbyterian Minister in several countries)

"I told Cliff, a Baptist missionary, that he needed a solid dose of Presbyterian sovereignty of God theology: if Bush won it would be God’s blessing upon our nation; if Kerry won it would be God’s judgment; either way, God is still in control, working out his own purposes."

What do you say to that? He is obviously insane and he is leading a group with the same insanity. They encourage each other's delusions. If they weren't organized they'd be in a padded room!

I mean, someone just paid $22,000 for that grilled cheese with the imprint of the Virgin Mary on it! Mass hallucination!

The world is JUST crazy. Try and see the humor in it for a while and relax.

11. sounds like your brother is minister at my mom's Presb. church.
Totally conservative.

Meanwhile, at my seminary, the justice and peace studies department is run by a Presb. minister who is way cool and working on the right side of justice for more humane immigration/border policies and the ethics of industrial agribusiness (they have none).
