Breaking, MSNBC: Colin Powell calls Ukraine election results 'illegitima
If there's an expert on illegitimate election results, it's Colin.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6374820/

KIEV, Ukraine - The Central Election Commission on Wednesday declared Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych the winner of Ukraine's presidential election, escalating a crisis sparked by the opposition candidate's allegations that the vote was brazenly fraudulent.

Western observers said the election was marked by mass fraud. Secretary of State Colin Powell said Wednesday that the United States would not recognize the vote results, which it saw as "illegitimate," and made repeated warnings to the Ukrainian authorities not to use force against protesters, who stage a third day of massive demonstrations on Wednesday.

The United States, the European Union and NATO had all urged Ukraine not to certify the election result until claims of fraud are investigated. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said Ukraine was at a crossroads over the results and could turn violent.

Yanukovych got 49.61 percent of Sunday's vote to 46.61 percent for Viktor Yushchenko, the commission said in giving its final results.

21. Cracked me up, too
How quick they are to point out the validity of exit polls when it suits their purpose.
Ya know, we can use this fact, especially at Thanksgiving.

6. What kills me is that they claim the exit polling...
...discrepency as proof that fraud occurred. Funny that...

7. Those Ukraine girls really knock me out
they leave the West behind...

America, the greatest nation in the world (?) and we still have to take lessons in Democracy from other countries.

What does it say that Ukrainians voters are more committed to securing a free election than American voters?

12. I think that's exactly what it is
People can speculate all they'd like over whether Powell is a "good man who got screwed" or a bad man who got what he deserved, but regardless of that, I see a guy who has a story that he'd probably like to tell.

Do Wolfie, Rummy, Asscroft, Evil Dick or Condi have a "conscience?"

Of course not.

Does Powell?

Yeah, and it's killing him.

26. That is exactly what I've been thinking
I used to have a modicum of respect for the guy. After noticing his slow disappearance over the last year or so from the media, I wondered if the internal fighting was getting to him. The last time I remember catching a glimpse of the guy, before he resigned that is, he was standing in a corner w/ a very strange look on his face, during some stupid Bush appearance. Maybe he is deliberately drawing parallels for us.

19. Is this from the Onion???
Or, is it just that we have reached such heights of absolute absurdity that I can't tell the difference?

Is it possible that people in government have such little self-awareness?

23. They should be choking on the hypocrisy
For god's sake, are these people blind? Can't they see a parallel with our own elections?

Rush Limbaugh was on C-SPAN tonight and I watched for a few minutes before I couldn't take it anymore. He was yammering about how liberals believe that the Constitution is a living, breathing document and are always wanting to change it.

Ex-squeeze-me? Wasn't it Republicans that that want to change the Constitution to make marriage just between a man and a woman, to criminalize flag-burning, and to mandate school prayer?

Seriously, these people must be high.
