16. To paraphrase
Robert DeNiro in "Copland"

"Kerry had his chance to be a president... and he blew it!"

2. I'd go Green, and I'm a Yellow Dog.
The fact that he hasn't addressed the irregularities means that he doesn't have what it would take to stand up and fight the Republicans anywhere.

What if Kerry had won this time? Every damn thing that will go wrong during the next four years would have been pinned on him and he would have just taken it. We need someone will play ball in the new park, it is impossible to make gains when we keep taking it.

3. I really like Kerry.
I know that many in our party only supported Kerry because he was not Bush. But, when you learn more about Kerry, the more you like him. That was the reason they wanted to make the convention about Kerry, to show he was a war hero. I think they should have done that, but they should have devoted equal time to protest Bush and his policies. With polls showing that a sizeable number of Americans does not support the war or like the way the country is going, Kerry should have went against Bush. But, we never know! Maybe if he has, there would have been a massive backlash.
Anyway, don't knock Kerry. This was the closest re-election for an incumbent since 1916! (Truman defeated Dewey by a wider margin!!!) The citizens are afraid to change presidents during wartime. I like Kerry for his liberal voting record in the senate. I like Kerry for speaking his mind and telling the truth about the Vietnam War. Kerry is one of us, in that regards. I know in my heart he would have been a thoughtful, inteligent, and caring president.

5. He was never anyone but bush for me if you want to know
I sort of relate to the guy a lot, he became what Kennedy became for him for me, basically what I mean was, he was my Jack Kennedy, I like him better than many of the promienent democrats who have seeked the presidency or have been president in my life.

4. in the primaries or GE?
In the primaries it depends on who we have running, and if he's the nominee well he'll get my support, in fact I would be honored to have John Kerry as my first vote, I really wanted it to be that way for sure but unfortunely a great deal of Americans care more about two guys kissing and in love than their own country's honor, its a tragedy.

8. We need to fight for election-reform at the state-level.
Congress won't do anything to make it better.

You can use the YOUR STATE dropdown at the left of:
http://www.verifiedvoting.org/

to find out about the verified-voting situation in your state and/or local organizations.

If Kerry doesn't run, or doesn't make it out of the primaries, I will support whoever.

I may have to hold my nose if it's either Leiberman or Clinton though.

17. None of the above
I believe I lost the right to vote back in 2000.
The system is rigged, so it really doesn't matter who I vote for.

Besides, Kerry didn't fight back THIS TIME, so why would I support him again?

20. BushCo and friends
will be finished their 'work' in two years.

If not, or if we haven't gotten rid of their majority by 2002, they'll steal a third election. Even if we run JHC himself, with JFK second on the ticket.

21. I'll decide in 07 or so
and I'll base that decision on what they do between now and then. At this point I have no inclination to back Kerry. Who knows? Maybe, like Gore, he might come out like a warrior and kick some serious ass. Unlike Gore he'll be in the Senate and be able to do more than make public speeches. We shall see what he does, what anyone does, in this dark time of Jr's second term.

24. In the primary? None. We need a heartland ticket
We need a nominee from the south or midwest that has national appeal. I want someone who knows how to attract voters in the south and midwest better than Kerry did.

25. Won't decide until much later
I really like Kerry. I think he would make a fantastic President.

Still, so much depends on the next 4 years. I would support a Kerry '08 campaign for the nomination under the following circumstances:

* Kerry takes a very active role in the Senate on national security/foreign policy and a few other key issues.

* Makes a stronger, more unified theme like responsibility

* Provides strong opposition to the Bush administration, while still being statesman-like.

* Establishes him as a McCain-like figure in the Democratic Party - highly respected, pragmatic

* The public clearly has "Bush fatigue" by 2008 and it looks like it'll be a clear Democratic win.

* He doesn't let Bob Shrum get within 100 miles of his campaign.

If he takes those steps, he could be a very credible challenger. Another thing that would really help were if were take a lead role in extricating us from the Iraq War as a key member of the FR committee (unlikely, but possible if the FR committee really asserts itself) and in doing so becomes a national hero.

The problem I see is this - if 2008 looks like it's gonna be close, I'm not sure Kerry would be the right guy. We'd probably be better off with a fresh face if there isn't clear "Bush fatigue." If the public is still split over the Bush administration, with roughly half still supporting him, and if Kerry's strong opposition role doesn't make him especially prominent, he'd be the wrong candidate. He'll look like a washed-up loser trying again, unfair as it may seem. He risks being the 21st Century Thomas Dewey. And a second try at the nomination that goes nowhere could be disastrous for his reputation.

He also has to be careful over the next 4 years not to appear over-eager, or else he'll turn himself into a laughingstock.

It'll be an uphill battle for him, but I think he *COULD* do it. It'll be tough though, and if he does it, I'll be proud to cast my second ever presidential vote for John Kerry - one of the best Presidents the country never had - or at least, never will have until 2009!

26. Primaries, no. General election, yes if its him. However, if we don't...
...have verified voting by then, I will seriously be looking at a third party candidate. Perhaps if my party sees people voting for a third party candidate in droves, then they, too, will start taking verified voting serious as an issue. That is, of course, if those who are going third party make it known that they are doing so for lack of faith in our current voting system, and disgust over the lack of interest from our party leaders in addressing it.
