Boycott Diebold ATM machines and help run them out of business
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 10:17 AM by GingerSnaps
I would like to get a movement going to boycott ATM's made by Diebold. Boycotting the Diebold ATM machines would be a good retaliation against the manufacturer.

My hope is that Banks rent the machines instead of outright owning them. If they are rented and the Banks know the reason that we refuse to use them then it might change their mind so that they decide to lease them from someone else. If we do a massive boycotting we might be able to run Diebold out of business :D

If someone needs to use an ATM Machine they have other resources available to them. I go to Walgreen's and if i purchase something under a buck and ask for cash back at the same time it saves me money because I don't pay a fee and the ATM fee is more than the price of the small item that I buy purchase anyways. :D

How can we get a list of locations with Diebold machines? If we can't get a list can we possibly have DU members start making a list every time that that use an ATM. Is Diebold written on the machine?

2. I never use ATM machines
I don't want to, either. I have a debit card and if I can't write a check because I'm out of town, I use it. Haven't found a place that won't accept it, and I don't like walking around with a lot of cash, so I don't see the need. If others do use them, perhaps they can break the habit and if they need cash money go to their bank to withdraw it.

3. I said this before
Get bank users to forgo their ATM and use the teller to withdraw small amounts of cash, explaining they distrust anything Diebold because of the election.

This would be most effective if done in an organized fashion in urban bank branches on Friday afternoons. This is when banks get both the paycheck deposit crowd and business deposits. Their lobbies would be packed.

A list of Diebold machine images can be grabbed from their website as well as a small list of customers in their spotlight section.

5. It would also save the Bank Tellers from losing their jobs
I use to be a Bank Teller when I was a senior in High School and they don't even make a living wage. I believe that Bank Teller positions will be the next job to be outsourced along with the ending of the Grocery and Retail check out clerks.

Diebold signs ATM manufacturing pact with Tata Infotech

http://atmmarketplace.com/marketplace_storefronts_client.htm?i=16&article_id=13085&step=story

For those who are unaware, Tata is the leading Indian provider of replacement workers in the US tech industry.

On edit, after reading the link more thoroughly, Diebold lies like a cheap rug in their press release. Tat Infotech is not a manufacturer, they are software developers and outsourcers.

8. I haven't used ATMs for a looooong time
ever since I found out that about those extra charges you can have tacked on even on the machine within its own system.

Pretty much, it was getting to the point where the only ATM you could use without an extra fee was the one in the lobby of the bank while the bank was open . . .

11. I wonder if Tony Blair
Had something to do with importing them to the UK.

We should check on it because they may be collecting some type of info. that we don't even realize for use later on down the line.

Next question does Diebold have anything to do with Halliburton?

Good Question...let's see if we can check it out.
