Start thinking "PROTEST" - we need to start hitting the streets
regularly - in big numbers

I think that may be the only way to start shaking things up.

It's going to take all of us. And we are going to have to work together.

Start thinking about protests.

1. You're right.
I'm ready to hit the streets, but one lone person is just going to look like a nut. We need NUMBERS!

2. I just heard that Bush might feel brave enough to invade Iran
because there hasn't been enough of an outcry over Iraq.

5. I agree
where are the protests? Not just over the election, but the war in Iraq.

I am going to the TX forum right now and start talking about taking to the streets.

6. Yes! Something has to wake the american people up to the fact that our
country is slaughtering innocent people; and we're not even sure why we're doing it.

7. Ok
When? Where? I just checked ANSWER's website and the next thing they have planned is Jan. 20. Not soon enough, in my opinion. Meanwhile more and more Iraqis are being slaughtered, more and more US servicemembers are dying and being grievously injured.

For WHAT?

There needs to be local action. In your little corner of the country.

8. My hubby says that freeway protests would be the best
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 10:19 PM by mtnester
Imagine shutting down major freeways all across the US. Several hundred people on each major throughfare (In Central Ohio, I70/I71 split, any of the I270 exits)...hundreds of cars just stop at a coordinated time, get out your signs and stand....or better yet get out dressed in black with tape over your mouth and just stand, or with black armbands and carboard tombstones with "Democracy - 1776 - 2004"...etc

9. doesn't do a damn bit of good
We hit the streets 3 times at least to protest the Iraq war, before and during, and we can see that helped, huh? :eyes:

It's masturbatory. It'll make you feel good, but no long-term consequences other than a rusty zipper.

It's a dead-end idea, and won't change a goddamned thing.

11. Do you have anything to suggest
that might be effective? I'm serious, if you have ideas, I want to hear them, because I don't want to waste my time, I want to be effective, but just sitting at this keyboard feels a bit masturbatory, as well.
