The election wasn't stolen, it was rigged.
I don't believe they actually bothered to steal it, seeing as it was rigged from the beginning. First of all, remember 9/11. After that, I don't think anyone we ran could've beaten Bush, because he had the strong, macho figure of going after bin Laden, even though he wasn't. And furthermore, the war in Iraq, despite what a quagmire it is, still gave him the boost of being a war president. And as for the moral values crowd, nothing we could have said would have stopped them from running to the polls and voting for their fearless leader. Also, the election was bought by the big-money Republican donors who gave all kinds of money to have John Kerry's charachter succesfully assassinated.
Well, that's what I think. Flame away now.

4. I think this has become a difficult topic for many...
I know it is for me. To think that Bush's people not only stole (or rigged, if you will) the election, but now they're going to get away with it with barely a whimper from my party, is a very painful thing.

I've lost sleep over this. Still do. I'm beginning to believe I'm getting a taste of what it is like to live in a totalitarian society, and I hate it.

7. Remember, people said it would be the same thing under Reagan
but it didn't happen. It will take a long time to clean up the mess after Bush* leaves office, but it can and will be done.

17. Reagan didn't enjoy control over every major branch
of gov't. Reagan wasn't a narcissistic sociopath like Bush. Reagan wasn't able to lard gov't agencies with Straussian authoritarian types. Reagan couldn't count on boosterism from a compliant national media.

That it didn't happen is no indication that it can't happen.

2. How would you characterize an election where 75% of the electorate
believed things that are untrue, and voted accordingly?

I call it theft.

Even after the final report of Charles Duelfer to Congress saying that Iraq did not have a significant WMD program, 72% of Bush supporters continue to believe that Iraq had actual WMD (47%) or a major program for developing them (25%). Fifty-six percent assume that most experts believe Iraq had actual WMD and 57% also assume, incorrectly, that Duelfer concluded Iraq had at least a major WMD program. Kerry supporters hold opposite beliefs on all these points.

Similarly, 75% of Bush supporters continue to believe that Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda, and 63% believe that clear evidence of this support has been found. Sixty percent of Bush supporters assume that this is also the conclusion of most experts, and 55% assume, incorrectly, that this was the conclusion of the 9/11 Commission. Here again, large majorities of Kerry supporters have exactly opposite perceptions.

They own the media. The media is the enemy.

5. Call it whatever you want.
The important thing is that it has to be fixed, but it couldn't be fixed this time around. Another 2 or 4 years, it'll be different.

9. What happens every election?
Do the losing side and winning side talk happily about compromise and bipartisanship? Yes. Does the losing side give up? No.

12. You don't actually have to "fix" the voting or the counting
if people's PERCEPTIONS are radically manipulated.

6. Rigging was only a part of the stealing
See this from the "signs of fascism"
You'll recognize several methods used:
14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a
complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns
against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of
legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries,
and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their
judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
http://www.couplescompany.com/Features/Politics/Structure3.htm

Voters were purged from the rolls, machines gave W kerry's votes and many, many abuses.
Mr "war president" had a 42% approval and a majority in this country opposes the war now.
Gallup had to oversample GOP-ers just to make W pull even in their polls...But somehow, he gets the highest # EVER? 11 million extra over 2000?
And then, there's that:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3987237.stm

Early exit polls quoted by media seemed to give Mr Kerry the edge, but colleagues said Mr Rove indicated right away that they did not tally with his information.

He used his own data to put Ohio and Florida in the Bush column - bringing cheers from the president and his family when he went into the Roosevelt Room and told them

It was rigged to be stolen. Was stolen. End of story

You say it was rigged, but you seem to think that Americans were "running to the polls" to vote for Chimp:

"he had the strong, macho figure of going after bin Laden"
"the war in Iraq... gave him the boost of being a war president"
"the moral values crowd running.. and voting for their fearless leader"
"John Kerry's charachter succesfully assassinated"

OK, here ya go: *flame*
